A relatively 'cheap, low-tech' drone (MQ-5B) was shot down, or so the Russkies claimed: link |

An MQ5 doesn't have the legs to fly over the Crimea unless launched from somewhere inside the Ukraine

@Caesar, Many articles such as these use stock photos, in many instances of subjects that aren't even mentioned in the article. @Lion, so the claim below excerpted from the report is an outright lie? "Judging by its identification number, UAV MQ-5B belonged to the 66th American Reconnaissance Brigade, based in Bavaria," Rostec said on its website, which also carried a picture of what it said was the captured drone. |

Do you think the Russians would lie ? |

We deny all responsibility. I suspect it is a cheap Iranian copy of one of our drones, which are prone to failure (Iranian made ones), since they don't pay the exhorbitant prices we do for them to be produced. No doubt, sold to Russia, to be used to create an international incident. [for those that don't get the sarcasm above, it is intended] Why would peace-loving Crimeans shoot it down, regardless of who it belongs too? You can't blame the Russians, since they are not in Crimea, according to Putin. Must be terrorists wearing Russian uniforms, and riding around in Russian built trucks, APCs, and IFVs, and using captured/liberated Russian air defense weapons. "Do you think the Russians would lie?". Of course not. They uphold all agreements they sign, or otherwise agree too (oh wait, wasn't there some sort of document about the protection of a free Ukraine, in exchange for turning over nuclear weapons?). Well, surely that was a different set of circumstances, and a very old agreement, which clearly makes no sense today, right, comrade? |

There aren't any U.S. drones in the Crimea because there aren't any Russian troops there to observe. |

I picked up a couple of die-cast Predator drones cheap at Walmart a few years back. The wingspan is about 5.625", so it looks like it's very close to 1/100 scale and would work for 15mm.

Sadly, yesterday, seemed like the hijacked jet was taking up all the news feed time, so we weren't getting any info on Ukraine. |

"Judging by its identification number, UAV MQ-5B belonged to the 66th American Reconnaissance Brigade, based in Bavaria," Rostec said on its website, which also carried a picture of what it said was the captured drone. Nope. Read what I said again. "An MQ5 doesn't have the legs to fly over the Crimea unless launched from somewhere inside the Ukraine
" Maybe the bold+italics will help you see it. |

I figure that fig leaf is about 3:1 scale. It was made for a cast of the David statue because Queen Victoria supposedly found displays of male nudity shocking and was hung on the statue when she visited. |
