Comparison of British and French mechanized forces, with particular consideration of organization, armament, vehicles, and doctrines regarding tactical employment. Author Trigg, Otto B. "It is believed that the extent to which any force may be mechanized is limited by the terrain over which the approach marches, and it is doubtful whether even six-wheelers will be able to move, since every line of approach must first be reconnoitered and then placed under some sort of traffic control. Only a definite percentage of any force is likely to be entirely mechanized due to the difficulties of maintenance and terrain, and such a force which can for a very limited time exist unsupported by a line of communication for the purpose of a special operation. The problems it brings to the ordnance and transport services will be the most difficult with which the staff and those services will have to deal." PDF link |
