One of my favorite AWI battle scenarios. Can't wait to see your treatment of the battle. |

I always use Guilford Courthouse to test new rules. |

And stop this "American War for Independence" PC nonsense. It's the American Revolution, Dude! |

I agree about it being the American Rev War. AWI is easier to post. Not sure if folks would know AMR. Thanks, John |

You can call it whatever you want, but there are only three letters in AWI, hence, this is how I post it. |

It's a rebellion (or was commonly reported as such at the time), but I'm not calling it the AR, AmReb or anything like that. AWI does fine for shorthand for me. The opposing forces were "The Crown" and "The rebels" and I find this an easier definition than ones of nationality as "Americans" fought on both sides, Crown deserters enlisted with the rebels and so forth. I've never like the term "Patriots" as the loyalists were patriotic enough,; but to another cause. But I'm not going to get offended by it. I'd rather play some games than argue over semantics. Life is too short and there's no right answer anyway. |

and can I just congratulate the OP on a wonderful collection of troops and scenery. I'm sure all those lucky enough to play the game will be in for a treat. |

Thanks for the kind words. The miniatures are from the collections of David Bonk, Bob McCaskill, and Joe Roberts. Historical miniatures battles is a bit of an experiment to put on huge games that are recreations of famous battles but also somewhat of a special event at various conventions. This battle will simulate all three phases of the battle! If all goes well we hope to do other periods as well. Vote on the blog and let us know what you guys might be interested in. Several years ago I was hired to develop all of the historical markers for the city of Camden SC. The scholars I worked with were of the opinion that it was not a revolution in the technical sense. Hence the war for Independance. But I I see no problems with either label. |

Poo on the "scholars". Go to anybody's bookshelf on the American Revolution (or War of Independence), and then scan the titles. One group of 20 had 14 with "American Revolution" or "War of Revolution" in the title. I might add that many were by FAMOUS HISTORIANS whose names you would recognize in an instant. Scholars too! John Adams thought it was a "revolution". and that's good enough for me. |

And when you get done running your AWI game at Southern Front, march those troops out west and run your game here in the Sacramento area – we have a convention around Veteran's Day. And you can take a trip up to visit Doug at the Miniature Service Center in person and expand your 'unpainted' portion of those collections. Hop to it, lads! Don't let me down. : ) |

I saw the posters for this game at Cold Wars. This will be a great event. I look forward to the pictures. |
