I am slowly trying to talk myself in to playing this game. Which is the better way to get in to the game? (Tactics to start, Warfare shortly thereafter)

The Revised Core Set can be found for under $60 USD pretty much everywhere, the New Starter sets will be about $40 USD on the street (?). I think I'll need a small force of both Axis and Allies, so the Core looks good. But does the contents of the New Starter make more sense? The updated cards and dice needed for Tactics (found in the New Starter)?

Love the game. I play Tactics . I think the new starters look right for the price. You will quickly add vehicles etc.
Have fun

The new starters also come with the updated rulebook, I think. Depends on what you/your group want to play.

The new starter packs come with an 'in-between' rule book. They have everything you need to play Tactics 2.0 with the miniatures you have just bought but they don't cover the rules for any of the older models. These will presumably be in a Tactics Unit card pack at some time and possibly in a standalone Dust Tactics 2.0 full rulebook.

Either the Revised Core or the new Starters will do. If you want an SSU force then the starters are the way to go. There is no word on how the old miniatures are going to be repackaged so it may be hard to get the old ones soon (and Lara is a walking bucket of German dice).
