It's a blast (pun intended), isn't it? And the game just gets better as you add in the stuff in the expansion waves.

Yep. The more ships (and the more players), the better it gets.

I've had a good deal of fun playing it with my boys (ages 7, 9 and 10) since one of them got it as a gift a few months ago. Got a few extra ships and graduated to the "squad building" rules recently, even the 7-year old could grasp it – and he blasted me into oblivion last game too!
