I have recently finished to read a book about Franco and his interview/plans with Hitler. There is clear that the problem was that he want part of the French North Africa colonies and Hitler finally decided to support the French Vichy instead of Franco Spain.
Another of his big mistakes.

How much it changes the WW2?
Don't know.
