For those interested in the French Revolution Phipp's THE "ARMIES OF THE FIRST FRENCH REPUBLIC AND THE RISE OF THE MARSHALS OF NAPOLEON I" is something of a holy grail. Phipps and his relatives did for the French Revolution what Oman did for the Peninsular War – giving a very detailed account of the wars.

Hard to find and hellishly expensive, Ken Trotman Books in the UK has been reprinting the volumns.

By way of a heads up I was talking to Robert Brown on another matter yesterday when I asked about vols 4 & 5. The company plans to issue volume 4 later this year and volume 5 in 2015.

Here's the link:

I know some people, like Kevin and like me trying to complete there collection.

Ken Trotmann Ltd did already a complete re-print in 1999 – I was lucky to obtain the complete set.

I own a complete set of the originals :))
with extra copies of volumes 3 and 5 as well!
Reprints of all 5 volumes are also available from PICKLE Publishing as paperbacks on Amazon.

Looking at the cheapest options on Amazon, you would still have to pay a minimum of £100.00 GBP to get all 5 volumes. •frown

I would love to own this but with a wedding to pay for this year it's not likely!
