I am working on a solar farm for my KR 16 games and had close to an epiphany. A great way to make realistic looking solar arrays. Here is the WIP:
Then the thought occurred to me. Would others be interested in buying them? They are 20mm x 25mm in 1mm thick steel. There will be resin supports at the back (when made); currently plasticine is holding them in position! They will come with the solar panel artwork attached. If they were about 60p each would you be tempted?

Looks like they could work with 15mm a well. |

Looks like they could work with 15mm a well. 15mm GZG figure:

I have quickly made a newer variant. This I think is better?

I like the newer one better for 15mm. |
War Monkey | 12 Mar 2014 8:22 a.m. PST |
Yes the newer one is much better for 15mm, but both would work very well indeed |

If your only going to make one go with the smaller one. |

YES. Very much yes. I will by a load. |

I could offer either size as it happens. Right, no need to worry about which one to go for then, just to work on the bit that holds them up. |

The correct 'all year' angle of elevation is 30 degrees
.but that is for Terra and Sol
maybe different where you are on KM

Incorrigible is what I aim for
seriously though – these will make a really interesting bit of terrain to fight over – in 6mm could easily have an array designed to power the whole damn colony
.which makes it as important to defend as the oxygen extraction plant that keeps the air in the domes breathable. The future mining colony boss has got more than Horta to worry about ! |

I like both designs, and prefer the larger panels, myself. I'd prefer some sort of metal support, if possible, or solid resin ones. I'm afraid if they have thin resin legs, they may not survive the battlefield. |
Angel Barracks | 13 Mar 2014 2:53 a.m. PST |
Yes, they will be solid resin supports. I am debating if to make them simple or swanky fancy pants. |

HEY HEY HEY NOW! tell me a little more about this swanky fancy pants stuff |
Angel Barracks | 14 Mar 2014 3:16 a.m. PST |
Well the simple will be some simple (easy to cast and thus cheap) angled struts things. The swanky fancy pants will be designed to look like it rotates and can move the panels to follow the sun (harder to cast and thus costs more) I am thinking simple, as after all the front of the panels is what most people will see.

The solar panel sticker is a bit wonky, but I just wanted to test the support was ok.
