Yet another 6mm guide! Might help some new to the scale though hopefully. This is my black undercoat/pick out method, it's fast and furious but does give a decent result. I posted this to my blog about 18 months ago and it still gets the most hits so here goes :-) Figures are Baccus but would work on any miniature in this scale I would say. Painting time around 1.5 hours plus basing time. link A few pics from the post for those who prefer not to follow external blog links. First pic shows the coat areas given a coat of dark flesh, this makes the red jump out and saves time in having to build it up over the black.Full details in the post.

Painting guide makes it look so easy. I've been tempted to do Marengo in 6mm to simply avoid years of painting to do it all myself. One thing I don't understand about 6mm gamers is why do they commonly use so few figures? It appears to be based for Grande Armee, but I think putting two of those battalions on one sabot would give it a better mass appearance. |

I'd say this method is far easier than using a white/grey undercoat and washes, requires a steady hand but that only comes with practice – maybe I'm just lucky, 56 years old and a steady hand with good eyesight! But joking aside this method is fast and the black primer gives good depth. These were based for Commands & Colors on a dotted hex board, all long since sold off as I made the move to 15mm scale napoleonics, but I retain a certain fondness for my old C&C board and 6mm figures :-) Spot the hex grid!

Those bases look terrific with the skirmish line out front. |
