Hi, I have Newline 20mm Macedonian pikemen and I am looking for some alternate rimless shields for them. I was looking at Xyston 15mm phalangites shields but I was wondering if anyone who owns them could help me by telling me the diameter in mm of these shields? link Cheers, Tone |

Hi Tone, they are 7mm across, so might be a bit on the small side for you. The hoplite shields are bigger at 9mm, but they have rims so not what you are looking for. A bit off the wall, but you could check out the hardware store for plastic nail and screw covers. Over here in Japan they have some that might work as shields for 25m figures, so you never know, you could find something that would do the trick. To give you an idea of what they look like, here are some of the larger ones. I use them to mark hits, as you can see here:

Also these ones which are thinner and 9mm across, but would need the back trimmed.

Looking around a few DIY places locally and online I was only able to find screw covers with a diameter of 12mm. Ideal for Carthaginian pseudo-hoplites but slightly large for pikemen in 20mm I think. I came across these drawing pins that may do the trick with a 10mm diameter: link pins Thanks again Aaron for the inspiration to look beyond purpose made miniature shields. All the best, Tone. |

How did they go, Tone? Could you get the shafts off them OK? Cheers, Aaron |

Thumbtacks (drawing pins ?) worked for me on 15 MM figures. Snip off the shafts with a small pair of snipping pliers. What I liked about the tacks was the various colours available.Oh, and very cheap. |

Using some snips the pin comes off fine, I may however have to drill into the figure a bit to get a nice secure fit. I think they are going to work out great. I might look into finding some coloured ones thanks! |
