Hey guys, after my last Campaign ended I mused over what had happened and what I learned from the experience. With my new-found knowledge and insight I set about planning another game and this time I will include the right mix of players from the first campaign and apply my new lessons to a hopefully good effect. Anyway! Here's a short rundown of the fluff and map! This map represents the Kingdom of Torlenia (name credit to Jennifer Fallon who wrote the amazing Tide Lords series.) Anyway, Torlenia is run by a King, based in the Capitol. The remaining land is split into four Duchys, run by Barons/Baronesses respectively. All who have sworn allegiance (lulz) to the King. I didn't mark the boundaries of the Duchys yet, still working them out. Anyway, quick Legend here. Anchor = Port City Fish = Fishing Village Pickaxe and Shovel = Mining Village Windmill = Farming Village Fort = Well, a Fort. Lighthouse = Obvious I didn't really get around to naming every geographic location yet. Like Forest of X or river Y. That will come later. I also did not map the roads, because it would congest the crap out of the map. Just wanted to share my progress so far and get your opinions! On a side note: Blank Green hexes = half a day of travel. Light Woods = 1 day of travel. Heavy woods = 1.5 days of travel. Hills = 1 day of travel. Mountains = 2. I'm still trying to fit the sea travel rules into the map. Anyway, here it is!
Another note: The only borrowed name is the Capitol, Torlenia. The village names are all randoms of 3-4 letters then "ville". The map I designed myself. I just love the word "Torlenia" and had to name the Kingdom that! |

Clean and easy to read. The hex-style reminds me of the old Mapper software by Jim Vassilakos. I enjoy map making. For inspiration I go to the cartographers guild forum. |

Yeah, i stumbled on that website and that's what got me thinking. before I just used hand drawn maps. They were nice, but I can just email this and everyone has it. The program is Hexographer. free from: hexographer.com There's a pro version but I don't know if I want it yet, or need it. It was fun to work with though. very simple. |

What's that from Parzival? Looks very nice! Ah, young man, sit back and let me tell you of the grand old days of gaming. Once there was a little company in Wisconsin, who employed a delightedly nutty game designer and illustrator named Tom Wham, and also used the services of a talented young artist known only as Darlene. This same company would craft a periodic tome, hight The Dragon, which bore tales of yore, arcane knowledge, and occasionally silly little games within its covers. One day the young Sir Wham brought into the realm of The Dragon a game— a board game of adventure and daring and quirky beasts, hight "The Search for the Emperor's Treasure," bearing with in it the great and glorious exploits of Ozmo the Fighter, Kate Du Bonk, Rocko the Dwarf, Nurf the Elf, Herman the Cleric and the mysterious Turb the Wizard, and divers others. And the great masters of The Dragon smiled upon this game, and bespoke unto Darlene the task of painting the wondrous world in which these adventures might unfold, and lo, thus was born the magical image which you behold. Ah, those were indeed the grand days of gaming yore, grand days indeed. link P.S. A later version with a hexagonal map was included in a boxed re-release of this game and several others, but while this map did have the quirky art of Mssr. Wham, alas, the work of Darlene was lost
unless you have a copy of the original game (which I do ). |

Cool, thanks for the education! I love RP and I feel I have missed out being born in 1991. Oh well, make do with what I can. |
