We had another very enjoyable game of Hail Caesar over the weekend, pitting my Seleukids against a much smaller Spartan army defending a river bank.

Here are a couple of shots, more with a bit of a right-up on the blog. link

I do love the mass effect of 6mm. Nice work.

blacksmith10 Mar 2014 5:33 a.m. PST

Love it! Which are the measures for the bases, please?

Steve W10 Mar 2014 5:46 a.m. PST

Each base is 40x40 , so the pike units are 80x40

Some of the tiny units I think are on a 20mm frontage

Craig Ambler10 Mar 2014 8:02 a.m. PST

Those look very good. Almost makes one want to do 6mm.

Thanks

Huzzar for 6mm :-)

HarryHotspurEsq10 Mar 2014 10:05 a.m. PST

Cheers all for your kind words.

@Blacksmith, Steve W is right, the basic widths that we use are 80mm frontage for normal units, 40mm frontage for small units. most of the units you can see are 40mm deep (20mm for skirmishers), some of the more tightly packed formations like the unreformed Spartan hoplites and the Spartan cavalry and mercenary thureophoroi are on shallower bases (30mm deep).

@Tony58, 3'x3' mat actually :P

@Tony58, 3'x3' mat actually :P,

I 'stand corrected,' even though I am actually sitting down :)

Yes, makes more sense, more room for maneuvering etc!

It was my bad recall, of your blog article about it, oops!

Thanks again chaps.

@Angel Barracks – I keep looking at your junkers in the Asian style broad-brimmed hats and trying to work out how to associate them with some sort of Anime-inspired samurai mech…

Angel Barracks11 Mar 2014 7:54 a.m. PST

sumerandakkad18 Mar 2014 2:28 p.m. PST
