I see that Pen&Sword Books have a new "reappraisal" out on Rommel by Ian Beckett. I have found Pen & Sword a bit inconsistent with the quality of their books in the past.
Has anyone read this one, any thoughts?

The titles always sound great but the quality is often subpar if not awful, especially with what you have to pay for these books in the USA. Looks like they are just trying to crank out as many titles as possible. Their older stuff, pre-2000, is very good though.

Agreed. They can be very hit and miss. Just received a large, hardcover (Naval Aviation in the Korean War: Aircraft, Ships and Man by Warren Thompson).

Since Thompson is one of my favorite authors and the topic is of great interest I ordered the book via Amazon. Large, hardcover, excellent production values, great photos.

I'm paging through it and realize that there are no notes, no index and no bibliography!

Thanks guys,
it's only 20 bucks but I don't want to just throw my money away.

Ian Beckett's WWI book was good.

He seems to have a good track record.
