Wow, those are beautiful. What really caught my eye wasn't the rivers though. What did you use for the fields? The whole layout almost loooks real. |

The fields are made from teddy bear fur which you should be able to obtain from your local sewing supplies or fabric store. The rivers are excellent. One of the more realistic reproductions of flowing water I've seen. Jim |

Zinkala: it is indeed teddy bear fur. the entire table is covered in a seet of it. i used a set of Electric hair clipers(for cut pet's hair) to vary the length of the fur, and then tinted it with an airbrush. took about as much time as your average modular terrain tiles would have. the trick is finding a big enough peice at a decent price. i plan on doing a more temperate greener mat that is 5 yard long, but i need to track down a supplier that won't be over 200 after shipping
ColCampbell: thank for the kind words. |

Wow! Have to agree: the river is superb, but the teddy bear fur is amazing! I've heard of its use before, but I don't think I've seen it used as the base for an entire table prior to this. It's amazing how good, and realistic, it looks (the figure bases actually blend into it, much better than anything I've seen before). Thanks for sharing. Can you post a 'how-to' on the fur? With suppliers, and cost information, please. Cheers! |
