Does anyone ever played T.R.W. Rubik's "Evolutionary War" rules set? Is it worth a try? I would like to involve in SYW with 10mm minis in a Grand Tactical/ Tactical rules.

Would be interested to hear about these also

Well I bought a copy a few months back and read it twice, but didn't go on to play-test. Basing is somewhat idiosyncratic, and while the underlying idea – ordering evolutions and then seeing how far they can be implemented given time and enemy action – is intriguing, the rules struck me as needlessly complex in many points.

Will keep it for the odd element that may make it into house rules, but somehow I doubt it is easily playable as such. YMMV

So in the meantime, has anybody gained practical experience with these rules? I would still like to make them work for us, without re-basing, but find it hard going…
