I am starting a game table involving the Battle of Gondolin, which is a total siege game, with minor skirmishes outside the walls. I only have half of the table built, and still working out the layout. I plan on placing city blocks on the table. Complicated Epic size game. Waiting on some Balrogs and Dragons to add to the table. Tom link I plan on using the following rules for the game. fallofgondolin.webs.com |

Jaw drop! It fell even further when I clicked on your Battle of the Pelennor Fields, and I had to hunt around for some wire to re-attach it. |

Thanks I am a mad man about Minas Tirith
that was built out of pure love. It was worth the six weeks or so to make it. Thank you!!! If you cant tell, I designed Minas Tirith to be used in different ways, such as Gondolin. I have no more room for any terrain, or I would build a super large Gondolin out of foam, but I need about 8 square feet to store it
.and I have a wife, who took over the rest of the house and threw me out in the garage
.they do that. Tom |

It is undeniably impressive, though personally I'd like to see more of the Mithgar stuff (I've read everything except Vulgmaster, though was a bit disappointed with Stolen Crown). |
darclegion | 05 Mar 2014 7:04 p.m. PST |
I plan on doing some other Mithgar battles. The battle of the Boskydells for sure. Challerain Keep is possible, along with the Battle of the Iron Tower, plus all the field battles. I am bouncing back and forth between LOTR, Warhammer, Mithgar
the list goes on and on. I am doing Helms Deep next, The Black Gates and then possibly (Dagor) Nírnaeth Arnoediad AKA Battle of) Unnumbered Tears or the 5th Battle of Beleriand, however you want call it
I have a great battle map for it someone made. After that is the Alamo
some Planet of the Apes
and back to Bretonnia for a round of battles in that Kingdom. I also plan some battles out in the Hyborian World
you know Conan..my favorite comic book growing up. Tom |

What miniatures are suitable as first age High elves, sindarin elves and green elves? |

Here is the 2nd phase of the layout. The table is a mess right now
.I plan on using some ruins for the city parts, from my Osgilith sets

As far as miniatures, I am using my stash of warhammer high elves (not from smoking). I am not going to paint the 12 houses of Gondolin, just for one game, etc, at least not for awhile. The Warhammer Fantasy High Elf armies are my favorites casts anyway, as far as that. I do not like the LOTR Games Workshop, they are too small, but they are nicely detailed, just do not match as far as scale to anything I have. I mostly use the old school Harlequin LOTR figures (for Orcs in this game). The only figures I do not have (or like) from Harlequin are the Elf armies. Same thing with the Black Tree Design Elves, not fond of them as well. I choose the Warhammer Fantasy High Elf, the newer ones, because I like the full hauberk and high helms. I am sure there are better detailed ones some where, but I am afraid to venture out
haha. Anyways, that is what I am using. If I had some more cash, I would buy some different looking types of High Elf armies off Ebay to represent more houses. Oh
no
now I am thinking of buying more minis
even if I dont paint them
that is bad. I have two Mithril Balrogs on the way
and I bought some Mcfarelane Dragons (because I had to)..to burn the city. Cheers, Tom Remember the Alamo!!!! (The Fall of the Alamo was 178 years ago today) |

As far as Gondolin, High Elves (Sindarin( not wood Elves. I would think wood elves would be good for the Noldor. Tom |

And Here is the final version, minus troops on the field link The City of Gondolin 510 First Age
And I decided to add More Elves to the mix, I will have a total of 400 foot, 100 arches, and 42 Cavalry. Very colorful battle. I should have almost 12 different households of Elves in the battle. The orcs numbers are around 300 with 3 dragons, and 2 Balrogs (That I am painting up) The Cavlary will represent the Valley Guard. |

Tremendously impressive. Its good to see some First Age goodness being done. Your architecture really looks elvish without being over the top. Having looked at your blog I was happy to see the gates in the mountains, which really add to the piece. Are you doing this for a convention somewhere? |

Impressive!!! Love the Battlestar stuff too :-) |

Thanks to all! Nope, No convention, just in my game room. Some day maybe at my local convention here. Tom |

A small update, but I am fixing to start painting 300 orcs to add to the table. I put the elves on the table finally. Took about 3 hours. link
