Gripping Beast? 28mm? Although they look smaller to me.

However, should you reconsider and use 15mm you could attempt these …

Old Glory makes some very nice ones in their renaissance range.

For cavalry, try Essex:

Although I have seen and like new Gripping Beast Timurids, my vote is for Essex. Here is the link to what I did, but they are not even close to what I've seen can be done: link

There was this person who had "Mad Scotsman" website. He truly is a master of painting those Essex figures. If you guys know where his website moved to, please let me know.

I've also painted some "Molnia" figures. They are very close in stile to Gripping Beast figures.

Old GB Islamics and Essex mix well. New GB Timurids are larger and chunkier, but will mix with Molnia.

Very impressive elephantry. Is that all 15mm? Essex looks pretty good but the figures seem a little stiff to me. But I guess a genius paint job can cover a multitude of sins.

I hear molniya no longer produces, but GB is a definite GO!

Igwarg, incredible paint jobs. Aside from all the juvenile crap on this site, there's real talent here. I like the combination of rich colors and a sense of heavily used armor/equip you were able to convey. Are those all Essex?

Caliban, topnotch stuff!

Yes, those are all Essex. Mostly from crusades range, but some actually Islamic Persian, Turkish, Muscovite and even Sassanian ranges. I painted them over many years and some look better as my technique improved.

Still, that guy, "Mad Scotsman" trashes my paint jobs. I use to have his website on my favorites, but its not there anymore. I highly recommend to anyone to try to find his website to see what Essex should look. If I had to start all over again I would use his paint jobs for inspiration.
