The two in the back are Guardians with lasguns, the one in front is a gunner for the accompanying plasma cannon (now starcannon)

Edit: those are some old models, Rogue Trader era, and about a head shorter than current Eldar.

Eldar weapon platform with plasma cannon (looks like, could be an old starcannon), one to right and top are eldar guardians with lasguns, one with green base might be a gunner, hard to tell.

Thanks! Much appreciated!

The gunner is actually from the original D-cannon artillery set:

Actually they are around the same size since I do have one of the new plastic Eldar.

Though the two Eldar with Las Guns can't be used in game any more and haven't been for nearly 15 years now.

Since GW decided that Eldar Guardians only have Shuriken Catapults.

They are a bitch to convert from the Las Guns to Shuriken Catapult due to them being metal.

Just got to love GW.

Agent Smith02 Mar 2014 10:41 a.m. PST

Shuriken catapults in the shape of lasguns, easy its just a different pattern of shruiken that all!

Watch out or the GW thought police will be after you :)!

Sorry that is just not going to cut it for me.

Sorry those are not Shuriken Catapults

AndrewGPaul03 Mar 2014 4:01 a.m. PST

Some shuriken catapults look different. That was the official line when 3rd edition came along and all Eldar became armed with shuriken catapults and pistols instead of las-weapons.

It works for Epic, too; this is a Wave Serpent:

and so is this:

But those are just the first Epic Wave Serpent Model and then the remake.

Sorry to me if the weapon looks like a Lasgun then it is a Lasgun.

GW nerf'd the Guardians over 15 years ago and ever since then they have had the worst weapon in the game.

Which is why when they did 5th Edition they gave back six inches of range to Dire Avengers just so Eldar players would use them.

Then in 6th Edition they double the price of the Dire Avengers from $35 USD for ten to $70 USD for ten.

Because they knew that those would be the most likely troop choice for Eldar players.

As I said you got to love GW.

So…you can't just use your lasgun Eldar as lasgun Eldar?

Someone going to report it to the NSA?

Mithmee03 Mar 2014 7:55 p.m. PST

Not in a 40K game and has been that way since 3rd Edition.

chromedog12 Mar 2014 9:20 p.m. PST

GW themselves said to just use them as variant pattern shuriken catapults.

A lot of OCD gamers say "but they don't look like them!" – no, they just don't look like ONE variant of them.
They say "It ruins the suspension of disbelief!"

So, you're fine with space elves, fungus men that get bigger and meaner the more they fight, dinosaur bug creatures from beyond space, Evil robot skeletons from before time, and bio-enhanced supersoldiers who use guns that fire explosive bullets …

But ONE (made up) gun that doesn't look like 'it's supposed to' somehow stretches the bounds of credibility?

I was using my guardians with lasguns up until 5th edition when I stopped playing the game because of attitudes like that.

Seamus14 Mar 2014 7:21 a.m. PST

Anyone who gets constipated over WYSIWYG isn't worth putting up with.

…After all it did so much for the game when 5th Ed. TLOS rules hit. /s

combat wombat17 Mar 2014 6:54 p.m. PST

Hell there are guys in tourneys that don't even paint their minis so I don't think there should be a problem with an eldar las gun proxying for a shuriken catapult.

combat wombat17 Mar 2014 6:56 p.m. PST

Well said chrome dog

Mithmee17 Mar 2014 9:25 p.m. PST

I don't think there should be a problem with an eldar las gun proxying for a shuriken catapult.

There is when you know that they are really Las Guns and not Shuriken Catapults.

Which if given a choice I would prefer Las Guns over Shuriken Catapults.

24 inch range beats 12 inch range. At least you would be able to shoot at things from a distance rather than to get one round of shooting and then die in Close Combat.

Or get shot to pieces before you can even target the enemy because you only have a 12 inch range.

combat wombat18 Mar 2014 5:08 a.m. PST

So you would rather play against a bare metal terminator with no arms than a lasgun eldar?

Mithmee18 Mar 2014 5:38 p.m. PST

A no arm Terminator would still better than a Eldar Guardian armed with a Shuriken Catapult.
