hide threads started by the person you have stifled from the front page? Seems like a logical way for people to be able to tidy up their front page feeds and make stifles more useful. |

Careful there, that's using entirely too much logic and reasoning to be of use around here

Haven't been paying attention much lately, eh? |

Bill has said before that the old platform did not/could not have that capability, but that TMP 4.whatever might. Stay tuned. |

Well, no. I actually proposed this to the community a few years ago as a stifle option, but it was voted down (most felt it was not worth my time to implement). At the current time, I'd rather get us to TMP 4.0 than upgrade the TMP 3.0 platform that we're leaving behind. |

Well, THIS Old Guy™ would support the Super Stifle. I would certainly support it as a 4.0 option. |

So is there any idea when the fabled 4.0 will be implemented? |

Personally think stifles are a waste of time. Other forums don't need them and neither does TMP. I don't stifle people but I must assume by the number of stifles made that some people can't see a whole lot here! |

I would support this. It would make the stifle (aka ignore on other forum) more complete. The greatest result would be that it would stop all the anti-Tango threads. Tango could continue posting as much as he liked and the ones who have a problem with it can stifle him and not see the threads. I'm not a fan of continually voting for things until you get the result you want, but this might be a good time to vote again for this. A vote on including this feature as part of TMP 4 might be beneficial. I know a lot of posts are generated in the anti-Tango posts but it's not pleasant, so I think the Editor should organise a poll to see how many of the members would want this. No harm in a vote surely? The editor doesn't have to abide by the result anyway! |

.I'm not trying to pick an argument but am a bit confused by your comment
.just saw this one by you on another thread " Its a pity that when you stifle someone their posts still clog up your front page. For those that have no interest in his posts then you still have 30 or 40 threads you have no interest in." That suggests you are actually in favour of this. Like I said, I'm not trying to be awkward, just noticed the contradiction and am genuinely interested in this as I think the change would make things easier for everyone. |

It would probably be easier to have a 'not interested' tag on particular threads rather than trying to subvert the stifle mechanism. |

Other forums don't need them and neither does TMP. You know, pretty much every time this subject comes up someone posts this bit of drivel. Every major forum software package out there has the function in it (and this has been the case for the 20+ years I have been on the Internet), with only two differences from what we have on TMP : 1)They use a different name – usually Ignore. 2)You can't see how many anyone has. The only places you find WITHOUT a comparable function are using inhouse software. Find a new argument please. |
