in Formation in 2014. "Residents of England may think they're seeing double this summer as the two last airworthy Avro Lancaster bombers on Earth come together for a month of commemorative flights throughout the United Kingdom. The two, four-engine, heavy bombers will appear as part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF), the Royal Air Force's vintage war bird squadron that conducts fly-pasts at major events throughout the U.K. The only remaining Canadian-built Lanc, will be joining the BBMF's famous bomber known as PA474 beginning on Aug. 8

Thank you, Armand. When we had a regular Air Show up here in the English Lake District, they sometimes had a Spitfire as a guest plane(and once, the UK Lancaster). We had a perfect view of them, as their flight paths took them right over our house. It was an incredibly emotional moment, especially for our mother, who of course lived through the last war and saw them flying into action. |

Actually, the only 'flying' Lancaster in Canada. There are another fifteen all over the country. |

I always love to see these old planes fly and a little worried at the same time. It is only a matter of time before they crash for some reason or another and then there will not be any more. About ten years ago I lived next to a small airport that had a WWII airplane show, I was able to sit out on my deck and watch a B17 fly directly overhead – THAT – was awesome. |

Wow ! That I'd like to see. And if they fly together at, say, Duxford – then I will. Thanks for highlighting this Tango01 ! |

The Canadian Lancaster regularly flies over my house. For $1,500 USD (I think) you can ride in it

I keep wondering just how near to airworthy the East Kirkby Lanc actually is. youtube.com/watch?v=O_-fLlvDFvc I know it dosn`t have a current C of A but just how much would be needed for it to get one? It would be nice to be able to get all three of them together in the same place. |

I had a good chat with one of the owners of 'Just Jane' at East Kirkby in 2006, when we went for a taxi-run in her. He said at the time that she'd need a good £2.00 GBP-3 Million to get her airworthy and that it would 'never' happen. Of course, the Vulcan to the Skies project changed all that and demonstrated what was possible. |
