I have a battle report (mostly in pictures) on my blog. It also shows off the new battle mat I recently finished. link |

Battle mat looks excellent. Really sets the table off. Was it difficult to make? |

Nice looking battle mat! I need to do another one myself here shortly as a display piece. What sort of flock did you make that out of? |

Spartan: Mat wasn't hard at all, just took some time. Used basic dark brown and tan caulk spread out into a square/rectangle field shape, then dumped flock on it. Repeated for the next field, changed the color of flock. Repeat many times until done. Forwardmarch: Flock was several manufacturers, but used Woodland Scenics fine flock in several different colors as the base. I had some other colors, plus I had some sawdust-based flock I had picked up from ebay some time ago. The sawdust stuff was nice because the texture was different and almost looks like old cornstalks or something when sprinkled in over the top. The key is to really mix the colors -- I would use a base color for 80 percent of the field's coloring, then add at least two other colors on top (plus the base caulk color shows through a bit too). I varied the colors so there weren't adjacent fields of the same color, but would repeat the color elsewhere on the mat to give it some unity. |

Great stuff! Of course, I'm biased as to the outcome of the game
