We are very pleased to preview our late 17th to mid 18th century Ottoman Turkish range in 15mm scale. These will be released next week -- just have to do the HTML. The main inspiration for the models was the great Turkish War of course, which included the Siege of Vienna, but many of these codes can be used for at least a hundred years before and after that war as well. We've had three sets of Sipahis made -- armed with firearms, armed with bow, and elites with armour and lance. Many rules sets specify that late 17th century sipahis are armed with one or the other weapon type so we have made the models accordingly. It's estimated that only 5-10% of Sipahis actually had a lance and so we've reserved that weapon for the elites. The models are break waist, with the lower body cast onto the horse and so the upper body can be pivoted a bit when attached, for even more pose variation. Sipahis with firearms (they have bows as well -- all sipahis were required to):

Jon are there any more of these on the way? If so I think you may be well on the way to sainthood. |

Will order some as soon as available. Is there any chance of some close combat infantry and big siege guns so we can game their pathetic attempt to take Malta from the good people of Europe. |

Those are absolutely gorgeous! Alas for me, they are not 28mm figures, but I can still appreciate them nevertheless. |

"I know what would go great with these." I have to agree. The Caucasian States would be a great addition to the Ottoman range.

How well will they work with the Old Glory 15mm range for renaissance turks? I have a ton of those, plus some Essex, but these look really nice. |

Usually I do Sci-Fi wargaming, but I'm writing my thesis on the second siege of Vienna from the Ottoman perspective, so
yeah, I'll be picking those up (I have more than enough reference material to get them perfect anyway

Those Ottomans and Caucasian States look really good. I wonder if either will ever be released? |

The Ak Börk worn by the Janissaries seems a little strange. Compare it to Janissary in ceremonial dress by Jean-Baptiste Vanmour (Van Mour), c.1708, a Janissary in Full Dress, after Caspar Luyken, 1703 & a Janissary Seferli from Hans Sloan's Album, 1620 The Börk above is high, higher than the plume holder, and has a fold or hem at the top. The one in profile may have a semi-oval flat portion on the top. By this date Janissaries wore the Börk as ceremonial dress and sometimes wore turbans on campaign, see Janissary in ordinary turban after Jean-Baptiste Vanmour (Van Mour), 1714 & A Janissary, after Caspar Luyken,1703, so the Börk should probably go with a long coat (tucked into the sash {kuşak}). The only Börks in Ottoman Turks Fighting the Polish Army in the Hamse of 1721 are around the commander. Hi Jon, Did the Janissaries ever release – they'd be amazing for a project I have planned. Couldn't seem them on the site? |
