Hi, I have made an order with Fernando, they directly bought figures from Old Glory. One of my CC companies absolutely refuses to make a transaction with Sri Lanka and the other is balking. Fernando do not take paypal or amex. Have others had this problem from the US. Thanks |

Go to the bank and get a pre-paid credit card maybe? |

I send them a personal check in the package, but in your case you could just send it via airmail. |

Cashier's check or money order? Most banks don't charge much (if anything) to issue a cashier's check. MOs are more expensive. Doug |

According to their website, these are the options:- A)By Personal Cheque drawn in favour of "Fernando Enterprises" B) Bank draft / Postal Order / Money Order drawn in favour of "Fernando Enterprises" C) Credit card It seems very odd that a CC company won't make a payment to Sri Lanka, it is a popular holiday destination after all. |

Last time I got a cashier's check it cost $15 USD, or so, and that was about 30 years ago. |

I just sent a personal check, no problem. Two questions. 1. So you just send a cheque drawn against your local US bank? 2. Do people really still use cheques in the US? |

Well after spending all day on the telephone it is clear that two different CC companies based in the US will not allow transactions to Sri Lanka. I feel bad for Ravindra as this is unreasonable but I have no choice but to send him a paper cheque. And yes the US has the most antiquated banking system in the western world, these problems happen all the time, I live partially in Canada and in the US. It is amazing how much better Canadian banks work for foreign transactions. Unfortunately the only Canadian CC card I have is Amex that he does not accept. I will have to consider I think getting a Visa card from my Canadian Bank. I should be happy I suppose that he does take personal cheques, but you are right, it is the first paper cheque I have written in years. John |

I have paid with my visa credit card based at my local credit union. Maybe you should just find some credit card company that will give you a credit card for a limited amount of time maybe cost free and use it for this. I have also paid via check. I think I once did a bank transfer even for a fairly large order. I think you need to blame your credit card company for the problems. Santh Fernando is very flexible and will do whatever he can to help his customers. I hope readers here will understand this point and not think anything negative about this excellent painting service with regard to the financial situation. Perhaps new customers of Fernando Enterprises should investigate their payment plans prior to sending any items for painting so that these problems don't show up at the end. This was a purchase of already painted figures so not the same as sending figures. I know that the company does not do PayPal at this time, I don't know the reasons for this but maybe this is another option that he could look into. |

Absolutely not blaming Fernando, I have sent him my apologies. I feel bad as he has paid for the figures up front and now has to wait for a cheque in the mail! He says he can not do paypal in Sri Lanka. I have no problem phoning in advance to MC to set up a foreign transaction, both banks just flat out refused, one being Capitol One a national bank. John |

Fernando's service is very good. Why not get a cash advance on your CC then go to the post office and get a money order? Or to the bank and a cashier's check. Not very expensive. This is not really a complicated problem. And I do write lots of paper checks (sigh. Old school I suppose. |

If you intend to pay it off over time, getting a cash advance from your credit card will cost you more, as the interest rates are higher for cash advances. |
