Gents, I am pleased to announce that our 28mm Seven Years Hanoverian range has now been officially launched. Spearheading the launch are the Hanoverian Grenadiers. Singles, Battalions and Brigades. Keep a look out for the new releases as they arrive. Musketeers and Light batteries will follow shortly! link

I have quite a few of these from the previous owner. Excellent figures. |

A grenadier battalion would have up to six different units' grenadiers comprising it so you can have quite a colourful converged force. |

the officer's sash would be yellow not crimson |

Yes converged Grenadier battalions can be multi coloured based on the regiments that they were converged from. Personally I like my troops somewhat more uniform, its a personal choice! That said many gamers ensure that every battalion including converged grenadiers are 100% uniform correct, making sure that if the converged grenadier battalion was converged from two different regiments that the facings of each regiment are represented. Either way with these miniatures you cannot go wrong :) |

probably 4 regiment's grenadiers were converged, the same with British as well, at minden there 6 companies of them converged into Maxwell's battalion. At Minden there seem to be two Hanoverian Grenadier battalions brigaded with A Hessian,A Brunswick and the British grenadiers under the command of Wagenheim.that rather suggest two 6 company battalions representing 12 of the Hanoverian regiments. kronoskof puts it slightly differently placing only one battalion of converged grenadiers from the Hanoverian army and two Hessian Brigade under ??? Hanoverian Converged Grenadiers (1 bn) under Wersabe British Converged Grenadiers (1 bn from 12th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, 37th and 51st Foot) under Maxwell Hessian Converged Grenadiers (1 bn) under Donopp Hessian Converged Grenadiers (1 bn) under Schlotheim Brunswicker Leib-Regiment/Imhoff Converged Grenadiers (1 bn) under Stammer Brunswicker Converged Grenadiers (1 bn) under Wittorff though gives no further breakdown of the units composition . Musketier may be able to help here |

One way to approach the issue of which grenadier companies to paint is to select a specific converged grenadier battalion, and then paint the parent regiments. I do this with my Prussian infantry units. For example, the converged grenadier battalion Wedell (1/23) has companies from the 1st and the 23rd regiments. Thus I would paint IR1 and IR23 (2btns of each) including their grenadiers, then converge the 4 stands into the historical 1/23 formation. This should work equally as well with Hanoverian and British grenadier formations. cheers, Fritz |

Well Gents, Some very good information form two expert painters. Well done Cardinal and Der Alter Fritz. |

the Hanoverian single battalion regiments give even more variation than the Prussians. Off hand I cannot recollect a source for which companies were converged with which for the Hanoverians. |

I wonder if the information is included in the Niemeyer & Ortenburg book on the SYW Hanoverian army? |

So far, I also haven't come across a detailed breakdown on the composition of the Hannoverian grenadier battalions. There are two Hannoverian 19th century secondary scources that should have it. One is Louis von Sichart, Geschichte der Königlich-Hannoverschen Armee. Its on Google library. I'm missing the volume covering the period 1756-1759. That should have it. If it doesn't, then none will have it. You'd need to go to Hannover and search the Archives yourself, I fear. From 1759 on Hannover fielded 3 grenadier battalions all through 1761. Each of around 8 corps or approx 580 men book strength. Note the English translation of the German Ortenburg book is poorly translated. Up till 1762, there wasn't a company of grenadiers. It was a corps or piquet only. In 1762 it was augmented to one coy. Now each battalion accounted for one coy. In 1762 hannover had six battalions of grenadiers or two brigades. With the English translation it is 2 companies per battalion or 2x24 coys for the army, not including the guards and the two 1758 raised new battalions which had no grenadiers! Absurd. In 1759, two battalions were part of Beverns Grenadier Corps under Wangenheims command at Todenhausen. These had been detached to the far side of the Weser river a few days before the battle and, as a result, did not take any part in it. They were composed of the regiments of Ferdinands command Hannoverian regiments. Wangenheim had the 3rd battailon "Wersabé", which was converged from Wangenheims regiments. The composition changed with each following campaign. That I know. By the way, a Hannoverian grenadier battalion is on my next to do painting list. I will combine 2 units instead of 6 ore more. One with orange facings (Hardenberg?) and the other with dark green (jeunne-Zastrow) That should look very nice. Très chic. Cheers, Christian crogges7ywarmies.blogspot.com |

that is a good call, go to Hannover and search the records!!! I like it. I will do an M&R brigsde with a stand of Hanover and a stand of Hessian grenadiers. |

Really jesting, not serious. I found the missing volume 3, part I of the Sichart book. It has nothing concerning the allocation of grenadiers. You are in the liberty to make your choise as you please. Isn't that fantastic, really. |
