Has anyone ever gamed any actions using the Fletcher Pratt Naval Game, with the Japanese battleship Yamato? I have no idea how the penetration charts, ranges, damage, etc. of the various sized guns in the rules were worked out, but would really like to have the stats to use this ship in a future game. |

Bet that wave motion gun would be pretty effective. |

go to link downloads icon at bottom of page. has both a calculator and under the shipcards, a number of ships including Yamato is already done for you. |

That's a really fantastic site BuckeyeBob, just exactly what I need in fact. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my request for help, it is very much appreciated. |

Although my recollection is that 18" guns etc are included in the revised Featherstone charts anyway so that Yamato is easy enough to do. John Currys calculator is handy though and I think we did have the Yamato in one game. My pal Tim has five Yamatos, in 1/1200th

When I was in college in the early 80's I made a program that would make the damage tables for Fletcher Pratt. Program is long gone, but I still have a bunch of sheets on the old 17" wide tractor paper in the basement somewhere. I remember building a 1/700th scale Wichita out of a chunk of wood, plastic sheet and a model of the Arizona in high school. Gave away all my ships when I joined the Navy. |

Glad to be able to help. There is another excel calculator in the files section of the NavWarGames Yahoo group available if you belong to that group. Fletcher Pratt was my first exposure to Naval games back in 1968. Played in a friends basement with 6 other guys. Drew the ship wakes with chalk which helped a bit with the range estimations. USS Wichita is my favorite ship of WW2. My son would target it first knowing that whenever we played in the '80's. (using either FP or a modified Seapower rules at the time) |
