Hello everyone, At the urging of friends and customers, I thought I would post here to offer my painting services. I primarily do 15mm historicals, but I am willing to take on most projects. My rates are very reasonable, and my workmanship fairly decent. :) |

I thought you were the brush for hire combatpainter. ;-) Well, I am booked for a long time so you can say I am retired. I take a week here and there to do something for Ebay or myself(fun). I have lots of extra stuff I want to have around painted and when I find someone whose style I like I get them some work. I buy from other painters all the time but usually only a figure or two. I hardly go to cons as I sell out everything I have and I can't replace that amount of lead for years to come. I try to go once in a while to meet and greet and have some fun seeing the new products. |

I do some 28mm, but I do not have any pics of stuff Ive done, but I have a few models I can paint up this weekend and post. I've read these forums for a while now, but only starting to post, whats the easiest way to post pics? |

If you don't have a website you should think about getting one. I use Weebly, it is free and very easy to use. pigmentedmini.com weebly.com |

I just put a handful on photobucket. I actually do think setting up an actual webpage may be a great idea, and will add it to my to do list. :) link |

I started out painting and selling starter armies and such on ebay for extra cash when my fiance lost her job. Then I realized I made more per hour than my job, so eventually when everything was set to get ready to start grad school, I decided to switch to painting full time. I've always felt I was a B grade painter, but I've been told I'm about an A-. I'm a long way off from a Battlefront Studio painter, but getting there. When I started doing commission work, I generally would offer everything from just basic flock, wash, and seal, to full on putty and tufts, etc on bases, and so on. The Tiger I did by hand, but now I have an airbrush to help with vehicles, and Im loving it. |

Most of my commission work as of late has been the random FoW platoon or company, and doing a lot of base painting work for some people I know who are studio quality painters, but who are dealing with time issues, so Ive been doing some of the basic stuff for them, and they then finish it off with their own style of detail work. |

Having a good website is essential, unless you have a local customer base large enough to book you full time. I know that in my case I work with customers all over the world, and actually I tend to work very little with local customers (actually I only paint locally for a friend or two, but there are reasons for my choice
) My advice would be to take the time to have good pictures taken of your miniatures, organize well your material and, most importantly, have a professional do your website. Sure, it is more expensive; sure, there are tools that might help you do it yourself. But it is your first and foremost marketing tool, your face and shop window for the world: do you want it to look cheap and hurried or do you want to convey the message that you are a professional that knows his business? warcolours.net |

I appreciate the advice Vanth, thank you. I think I will be looking into getting a webpage up this next month. I've actually been to your site before, and used some of your pics as inspiration for techniques I was wanting to learn. Mostly as far as commission work goes, I've been doing the occasional odd job for local guys and Ive started having ebay customers ask me to do additional work for them. I decided to branch out like this at the suggestion of a friend who is another commission painter that I've done some grunt work painting for in the past. |

@LordDredd. If you don't want to do your own full website, get yourself onto Blogger for a start. Very big community of wargamers and painters on there and set yourself up on Pinterest and let us know where you are Stew |
