In fact, we have several. We even have submarines – but we can't figure out how to make them work. I think they're made of wood. |

Cute, especially: "They were armed. With guns," said Omari. "Canadians. With guns. And a warship. What is this world coming to?" Doug |

Yes, yes we do. I know it's shocking. Used to have a carrier too, but it got sold off back in the 60s. I'm sure the boarding party asked their questions very politely. |

Armed Canadians? What's that all aboot? |
Midgetmanifesto | 27 Feb 2014 10:34 a.m. PST |
The submarines were sold to Canada by the UK. I think it was either figuratively for a dollar
..although it may have actually been the price. There's been lots of refinishing and numerous failures and a fire. We may have gotten the worse end of the deal. I had no idea Canada ever had a carrier though. That's just weird. |

Errrr, which navy do you think made the second-greatest contribution to victoyry in the Battle of the Atlantic? It was an American navy, but it wasn't the USN. All the best, John. |

Midgetmanifesto, the issue was that the Canadians knew the subs were cr@p but were too polite to refuse the offer. John, it was most assuredly the Canadian navy. |

Reminds me of a favorite Onion headline, "Plucky Canada Has own Government, Laws". |

Yes, Canada contributed mightily to the effort, so the Prime Minister was really ed when he was excluded from the talks between Churchill and Roosevelt in his own country. That and blaming Dieppe on the Canadians, it's a wonder you guys stuck with it. |

We only sold them to you because we thought you wanted to turn them into casinos. |

"We even have submarines – but we can't figure out how to make them work. I think they're made of wood." No, the real problem was use of a screen door for the conning hatch. :-) And yes, Canada, bless its maple syrupy heart, kicked butt on Atlantic convoy escort duty. |
McWong73 | 27 Feb 2014 2:12 p.m. PST |
Canada kicked serious butt through the entire war. Which war? Pretty much all of them. |
GarrisonMiniatures | 27 Feb 2014 4:35 p.m. PST |
My uncle trained Canadians in mine clearing during the war. Seems they had their own methods of mine clearing which involved footballing skills. He reckoned they were insane. |

Not to mention ingenious methods for upgrading or upgunning crap equipment into something useful. Churchill was just a ***k. Was there ever a case where Canadians (much less Aussies or Zealanders
) were handled well (or even respected) by their British "cousins"? Britain has a lot to answer for
which they will never admit to. But oh well. |

Oh here we go again. Want some ketchup with that chip? |

That's no chip, RMD. That's a boulder! |
