Just received this from Andy Neilson Co-founder & Creative Director, King & Country about the new 60mm painted plastic figures:

'Hi Mike, good to hear from you and many thanks for the excellent review in the mag. much appreciated! At present our Alamo Mexicans still need a bit more work on them…So release has been delayed a little. However as soon as we are ready to launch I will give you all the 'gen' …promise! Until then, bear with us and all the best, Andy.'

Interesting. Are the painted plastics going to be cheaper than the metal? I would think that labor costs will still play a big role in pricing.

Thanks for the heads-up. The recently released plastic M4 Sherman tank is retailing cheaper in comparison to metal AFVs produced by K&C, so I hope the figures will be too. I think this could be a real shot in the arm if affordable, bringing more gamers/collectors/newbies/youngsters in to the 54mm fold. It'll be interesting to see if other manufacturers follow suit such as JJD, Thomas Gunn etc.

The whole idea is that they will be cheaper and therefore usable as 'fill-ins' in big displays, and also a lower cost entry point for young collectors. They came into being as figures for a big diorama of the Alamo in a museum in San Antonio.

Damn, 60mm? Wish they were 54mm.

Depends what you do with them… we mix the two scales/sizes on the table and nobody even notices…
