We'll now what am I going to do with all these "free tango" t shirts I just made up?

MajorB26 Feb 2014 7:44 a.m. PST

Let me get this right. Someone makes a personal attack against another TMPer. A complaint is made and they are DHed but the Editor screws up and posts the wrong link to the crime. When this is brought to the Editor's attention the aforesaid DHed person is freed "on a technicality".

I suppose it's only fair given the Editor's mistake.

15th Hussar26 Feb 2014 7:45 a.m. PST

Whitphoto,

Send them to Armand, he can sell them outside high class dance halls in Buenos Aires…he's gonna need the cash for bail money around this joynte eventually!

thumbs up

Please Major Bumsore. You forgot a whole major component. Let me see if I can help.

"Someone makes an egregious personal attack on Tango, dragging in his wife, family, and mental stability (all of which are unknown to the poster). Tango, finally feeling a line has been crossed after putting up with incessant attacks from the same sources, angrily responds asking for an apology."

See, fixed.

The content of the original personal attack is irrelevant.
Armand's mistake, as you so rightly point out, was his angry response.

However, that is not the point I was making. I was just trying to get a clear understanding of the sequence of events that led to his being freed from the DH after only a short time.

Only Warlock26 Feb 2014 7:57 a.m. PST

My assumption on that count is that he was canned by one of the Girls and Ed reviewed it, deciding it was not warranted.

MajorB26 Feb 2014 8:00 a.m. PST

As you say, that is only an assumption.

Only Warlock26 Feb 2014 8:17 a.m. PST

Yes.Hence the term "Assume" in my post.

Wow.

Caesar26 Feb 2014 8:20 a.m. PST

Major Bumsore, why are you not also apparently disgruntled that Combat Painter is not DH'd for his original attack?

Double standard?

taskforce5826 Feb 2014 8:33 a.m. PST

I keep expecting Tango to challenge the other guy "Pistol, at ten paces?" like Bugs Bunny does:

The Editor has an obligation to take down personal attacks. It is a cop-out to allow someone to attack another, then punish the first person when he bites back. Dog-housing the "offender" while allowing the insult/offense to stand is not a consistent or wise policy; if you are going to police the forum, then POLICE the forum, otherwise let both go.

John the OFM26 Feb 2014 8:49 a.m. PST

That's the way it works in the NFL, Rwphillipsstl. grin
However, here we do have Coach's Challenges, and all plays are reviewable. Up to 30 days, that is.

blackfly26 Feb 2014 8:55 a.m. PST

Its cute how everyone assumes rules are anything but capricious whims and that they would ever be applied with consistency.

This is not an ISO9000 standardized organization, its just a collection of disparate personalities spewing ideas, which are allowed or disallowed to be shared following the mercurial and changeable dispositions of an all powerful random arbiter.

You would be similarly served complaining about a child who knocks over any and all of things anyone builds in his sandbox.

Disco Joe26 Feb 2014 8:57 a.m. PST

"Someone makes an egregious personal attack on Tango, dragging in his wife"
Okay I will agree with you an attack was made on Tango but exactly how was it a crime on his wife? If I remember the post that Tango had placed which he felt was an attack if I am getting that correct on his wife it was stated "he pitied Tango's wife". So would someone please explain this to me.I am just trying to understand it.

MajorB26 Feb 2014 8:58 a.m. PST

Major Bumsore, why are you not also apparently disgruntled that Combat Painter is not DH'd for his original attack?

Double standard?

Not at all. If a complaint has been made against CombatPainter and the complaint is upheld by the Editor then CP should be DHed for the offence.

I would buy a t-shirt. I would have gone with coffee mugs, though, instead.

anleiher26 Feb 2014 9:53 a.m. PST

Viva Tango.

Once again, I'm reminded of how brave some individuals are when they can post over the net something they would never say to someone's face.

This is rapidly reaching the point of absurdity.

If you don't like Tango or his posts, build a bridge and get over it. The world doesn't revolve around you.

Zargon26 Feb 2014 9:58 a.m. PST

I want my "Che Tango1" t-shirt too, the Ed has to do this ( comon Armand prove the sad moppers wrong by allowing this on TMP) I'd get one to use when gaming "for good luck" and it would identify a lot of us as TMPers as well. I think this is a great idea and the proceeds can be used for a good cause. What say you all? (this can be an ongoing them with other's ideas etc. Done on a yearly bases) gosh I feel quite choked and humbled by all this 8-D hehe. Anyway welcome back me compadrie T1 you were away a short time but you were missed. Cheers all.

Black Cavalier26 Feb 2014 10:06 a.m. PST

Oh shoot. I was looking forward to my posts staying on the main page for a more reasonable amount of time.

Brian Smaller26 Feb 2014 10:28 a.m. PST

I agree with OFM – same happens in rugby. Some prat eye-gouges you and you thump him and you get penalised. as an aside, over on Frothers there is a story doing the rounds that Tango is actually Barry Edwards. Really? That is taking conspiracy theories to another level.

I just wanna wargame, read wagame/history related links and paint models and see the same from others.

nevinsrip26 Feb 2014 11:01 a.m. PST

Yawn

Brian Smaller26 Feb 2014 11:03 a.m. PST

Welcome back Tango! Hope my jug of "white lightning" was still in the DH from my last stay.

Sorrounding for so nice fellow members and good friends, it's impossible to avoid to feel a great emotion for too many "good waves" for me.

Many thanks guys!

I would answer all your personal messages as soon as possible. Thanks for that too!.

Thanks for the Editors to reverse an injustice.

I admit I don't push the "complain" button because I still live with those old codes from school when you managed to resolve your personal problems with other persons without asking help to the teacher and never pointing the agressor to be punished to the Principal Office. (smile).

I still think that Combatpainter made a bad move only to see himself funny or to form part or be admited of a gang.

I known along my life so many people like him.

I'm not repented for ask for apologies or made an stand because of so long agressions to my person (four years since one of our friends point in one of the threads)

I still wait the apologies.

Thanks to all again and hope the "Tango post" ended for ever.

Amicalement
Armand

"Thanks to all again and hope the "Tango post" ended for ever."

-- as long as you continue to post new threads about subjects already being discussed right on the top of the page in that forum, people will complain. it's something people have been complaining about since the beginning of the internet, and many forums now have rules prohibiting it. if you are really interesting in minimizing the complaints about your posting, then when you come to a forum to post one of your topics, look at the forum first and see if its already being discussed. if it is, then add to the existing thread, or don't post at all.

it's not a lot to ask. if you don't do that, you create the impression that you are more interested in having "your own" thread about the subject instead of furthering discussion….

I am sorry Tango got attacked, why do people act so cruelly to fellow gamers.

Welome back, and rightly so, mon ami!

Sparker26 Feb 2014 1:55 p.m. PST

Careful with they use of the word 'Continue' there, Heini!

You might give the impression to the ignorant that this is something that Armand does regularly…

Whereas we both know it only happens a few times, a tiny proportion of his otherwise useful posts, don't we!

Heinz Good Aryan26 Feb 2014 2:10 p.m. PST

he does do it regularly. whether you think his posts are useful or not, my point doesn't change. he seems to get them from a number of news feeds and then reposts them here. i don't find that useful but others can certainly disagree. but doubleposting is doubleposting whether you think his posts "otherwise useful" or not…..

chriskrum26 Feb 2014 2:21 p.m. PST

I have to agree with Heinz. This is going to come up over and over again so long as Tango continues to link bomb. It's all easily avoided if the editor would just give him his own special board, essentially his own page, to post on. Everyone wins that way except those who take delight in the ongoing and to be continued controversy.

Sigh, but even mentioning that puts one on the receiving end of the ridiculous Tango-lovers and their it doesn't bother them therefore it can't possibly be an issue to anyone else nonsense. Never mind that any thread one posts such a comment to is clear evidence to the contrary.

Tango could himself solve the issue if he'd voluntarily restrict himself to one particular board--Modern Media perhaps--since almost all of his topics are scoured from other media sources. Then we could all just block or not block that board.

Tazman4968426 Feb 2014 2:34 p.m. PST

Hopefully, Tango likes cake……

mad monkey 126 Feb 2014 2:38 p.m. PST

So you folks don't mind when other people post on previous topics, but you do when Tango does it? Smacks a bit of hypocrisy don't you think?

Brian Smaller26 Feb 2014 2:40 p.m. PST

Sigh, but even mentioning that puts one on the receiving end of the ridiculous Tango-lovers

You are just as one-eyed. Your attitude seems to be 'it bothers me so it must bother everyone else too'.

I acknowledge that Tango's posting may annoy some people, but given the scheme of things, I would rather worry about my mortgage.

John the Greater26 Feb 2014 2:40 p.m. PST

Tango01 – Bienvenido de nuevo, mi amigo.

I have an idea for folks who think Tango posts too much. Do what I do and only look a boards that interest you. It's amazing how many posts you don't see by doing that.

I kind of look at Tango like the news feeds I get. Lots of material to choose from but the choice to read or not is mine.

The Gray Ghost26 Feb 2014 2:46 p.m. PST

I say if you can't beat em join em and suggest everyone post at least 5 topics a day on anything to do with wargaming, military, modern politics….

Tango0126 Feb 2014 2:47 p.m. PST

Thanks again guys.

Let this thread die and the others too.

If you do, those people have nothing to wrote again.(smile).
