There are two descriptions of English tactics (so far, I'm not finished it yet) in Lugaidh Ui Clerigh's Beath Aoda Ruaid Ui Dhomhnaill (The Life of Red Hugh O'Donnell)that may be of interest to TMPers.

In both cases the English deploy their shot both musket and calivers in the front line. The second line is all cavalry and the third the pike and halberdiers.

I think it would be interesting to try this out on the table top.

The Irish response is try and turn both of the English flanks.

The makings of a good game I think.

There weren't many English in Ireland during the Nine Years War….

Mostly Dutch, Danes, French and Prussians.

Its the earlier Nine Years War not the later one. A cause of confusion to many.

So English, Irish, Scots and Spanish.

You shall not forget about the Athenian phalanx breaking that lousy Dublin one, at the battle of Halikarnossos/Kilkenny !

Ah yes WCTF I'd intended Renaissance Media. But you remind me I always thought a Greek resturant would have done well in the Marble City.
