Hi all, can anyone who was growing up in the late 60's/ early 70's in Britain remember a programme that used to be on in the summer holidays. The programme ran for about two or three episodes and was about the Monmouth Rebellion and the Battle of Sedgemoor. Any info would be much appreciated, all the best

You're welcome. I don't think this played in Canada, I Googled "Monmouth Rebellion TV show" and it came up. The only British shows I recall from that era shown in Canada are Python and The Frost Report |

Must have missed that one, too busy graduating and then getting married. Sounds a bit like an adaptation of the children's classic about kids involved in the ECW – name of which I can't recall. |

Gildasfacit That probably was a series called 'The Children of the New Forest', I seem to recall. Wasn't 'Lorna Doone' set during the Monmouth rebellion? |

There was a great costume drama called the first churchills around that time ,not sure if it was about the rebellion though . Bit before my time but watched it with the folks back them. |

I went to the 1985 reenactment -loads of blokes dressed up as Father Christmas or Beefeaters or something if I remember rightly. |

Hey Mashrewba! I was at that reenactment. My wife and I were touring GB that summer. We were staying in Chester and things were slow so we zipped down for the day, had a blast and got back for dinner at the B & B. Those long summer days in northern latitudes are nice. I saw the rebels closer than the the redcoats and they were a convincing lot. |

I took some photos -I see if I can find them.I imagine the rebels would be in ECW Soc/Sealed Knot stuff but I think the Kings army may have been in something a bit more fancy dress. Could be wrong of course. Still it was a great display -I mean what do I want -blood? |

Blimey! There is a cat herder! If I'm being honest I am more of a wannabe, I try to herd them (all six of them) but they pretty much do as they please. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
