Hi,

I joined TMP yesterday on the scout for potential employers or clients. I have to thank whoever put together your Directories, very useful indeed for getting company details globally.

I am a CG artist with over 20 years experience in designing and building CG models for Video Games, Illustration, T.V and film. I have been lucky enough to work for the BBC, CBBC, and endemol, as well as Rare, Free Radical design and Rebellion.

I recently completed my first 3D print project for white dragon Miniatures kickstarter project which is still in the works from what i understand. I am currently at a crossroads regarding whether to pursue Table top gaming work or swot up and get back into videogames. for this reason i am pitching my wares here to see what kind of feedback I can gain and hopefully some useful advice on whats popular, whose making it and more importantly if I could fasibly make a living out of this.

My website lee-ray.com is a bare bones affair at the moment and wont be updated for a while so I will post some examples of what i do here and please feel free to ask any questions or suggest someone who may be interested in employing me on a project.

Thanks for your time.

Lee Ray

I like the SCUD looking one.

Would look good in 15mm or 6mm scale.

If you own those would pitch to the those folks.

Good Luck
If that lotto ticket ever works.

Thanks for the fast comeback

it is a MAV TEL scud launcher, built for an Osprey book. Its not something I built with "contiuous surface" in mind i.e its not all one mesh with seperate wheels
, long time ago 2005.

I will be emailling all the manufacturers i can find , just wondered if any of them ever popped onto here to check out the customer trends?

also are we only limited to 2 images per post?, I dropped links to a dozen or so above and only 2 are showing on my post.

Trying them again, apologies if they double up.

If you do minis , spaceships are always cool but so is historical war gaming and there is currently a void in ultra modern stuff in all scales except 6mm. Ultra modern Israelis are impossible to get in any scale except 6 mm.

Lee Ray25 Feb 2014 11:18 a.m. PST

Scale isnt really an issue when its a 3d print, granted you have to consider detail visibility and material considerations, wall thickness etc but in my limited experience it seems to be a question of how fine the printer can go you can keep adding surface detail till your blue in the face, but if the steps on the printer are too broad you`ll lose it in the cast. I am confident I could tackle any subject matter and any scale.

Who in the members opinion would be worthwhile approaching regarding getting work or on the books for future paid projects,I have plenty of my own ideas I dont pay myself for so I have no shortage there.

I have a project that I have been considering for awhile, just not sure if it is cheaper to hire a scratch builder or do it 3D printing.

So if you want to shoot me off an e-mail at hintzjim at hotmail

@Lee Ray -

Couple of suggestions.

Using forums like TMP sometimes takes a bit of investment; if you get a membership, you'll see you can PM Leland directly.

Also, getting to know a company helps. Using the inestimable Mr. Erickson et al as a further example, if you go to 'metal-express.net', you will find a discussion forum there, and will get to know the company and what they need better. And, maybe demonstrate yourself, as well.

Spartan, ditto.

Here, the investment is time, of course, and that quite valuable, but we old codgers have a saying that begins with 'Nothing ventured…'

Thanks Doug,
I searched via google about the PM issue on TMP, will consider a membership soon.

I will be putting the hours in online and subscribing to other forums as quickly as I can. i am staggered by the amount of companies out there doing this kind of thing and wondered why it hadnt crossed my mind before.

Thanks again.

Well, you're not the only one dreaming of doing this, but you've no worries about me.

Over three and half decades as office drone, and no wanderlust left in me.
