I just picked up 6 packs of 6mm Sci-fi from C in C. To start with I was planning on dividing the force in half and painting some as rebels and some loyal troops. Eventually I will pick up a second opponent, and would like to be able to field the two C in C groups together on the same side. Have any of you tried to paint to 6mm forces very similar, but with enough difference to easily tell which side they are on from a distance? What did you do, and did it work? Should I just go with the old Red vs. Blue theme? Same theme with different color visors on the helmets? |

Could take an idea from Battlestar Galactica and have you rebel troops marked with an obvious field sign to prevent 'friendly' fire. In case you haven't seen it, rebel Cylon centurions were marked with large x's of red paint. |

What about different camo schemes? Maybe desert/woods and urban? Rebels = desert/woods Loyal = urban The rebels being forced to hide in the outskirts and fringes whilst the loyalists have the benefit of city life? |

I went with a Green vs Tan paint scheme as a homage to all the army men battles of my childhood. I ended up with 'The Magnolian Empire' (Tans) vs 'The Malachite Confederacy' (Greens). |

Or something like Renegade Legion, just paint an R on the side? |

Are the Rebels civilians/militia, or are they a schismatic part of an existing military? That is, is it a revolution or a civil war? If the latter, distinctive colors and uniforms are appropriate, as each side would be trying to establish a claim to statehood or dominance. If the former, the gear would probably be the same, but with Rebels wearing a flash in the helmet (as in Yugoslavia in the 90s) an armband (as in the Soviet Coup) or a scarf, (as in Ukraine's Orange Revolution a few years back). |

the armbands idea
I wonder if I can pull that off at 6mm I don't know, they're pretty small at that scale. You might not be able to get a good grip on them. |

Mine are painted to mirror the cruddy brown of Kometenmelodie:
Mine an L4s would be a doddle to tell apart on the table top and both still look 'realistic' as they are in camo

Basic marines, weapons teams, dreadnoughts, and 2 packs of support walkers to start with. I'd like to get some IFVs and Dragonflies from microworld eventually to go with them. Yeah, I would prefer to stick with tactical colors. You're are looking pretty sharp. |

You may want to get the Militia packs, they'd make good Rebels wearing soft caps, like the DAK. [have not painted these yet ! ]
And later this year CinC is going to release troopers with Berets
