I saw this book on ebay and was wondering if it is a good read? |

It is required reading for anyone interested in 1812-4. |

It is an excellent book, but you do need to understand that it is not a campaign history. |

Is this the Lieven book? If so, then highly recommended! |

I would agree that it is a must read. |

I thought it was OK. As AussieAndy says, I was looking for more military/battle concentration than I got from the book. |

I have read this book and think that it is almost required for a fuller understanding of the Russian involvement in the 1813 and 1814 campaigns after they "kicked" the French out in 1812. The author is descended from Russian officer(s) who were involved in the campaigns. I highly recommend it. Jim |

!? It is a campaign history, albeit at the political/strategic level. |

It is an excellent piece of work. It has some pro-Russian bias, but that makes a lovely change from decades of pro-French bias. |

I also thought it was excellent. As others have also said – it made me want to do a Russian army. |
