Decided to do a LRDG force for Bolt Action but I'm not impressed with what you can have according to the official list
Each infantry squad needs to be on a transport truck (quite rightly so) but it can only have either a single MMG or a single HMG where as the three support truck/jeep choices can be bristling with LMG's, MMG's and a HMG but are not allowed to transport anyone! Did the writers bother to erase arch at all?!? Sorry, rant over

Downgrading the LRDG, egad! Were the rules written by an Italian or something? |

Armed transport is a real weak spot in the rules due to a fear of what could happen in a tournament setting. I know
. If not planning on tournament play create a house rule or two. DM |

I won't be playing in any tournaments only at the local club, but if I add a couple of house rules and win I'll just be accused of bending the rules in my favour
:( Another problem is transports that have been debused from that are nearer enemy than friendly figures are taken off the table, this also stops LRDG from being used properly as your not going to risk getting them to close to the opposition. |

You'll just need to make them how you want, make up some house rules that fit the bill, play with like-minded friends, and just accept that you can't play against Norwegian ski troops in the tournaments you weren't entering, anyway. |

Official lists? Who uses official lists? Just make a scenario and if you are worried about bias just let your opponent pick the side he wants. As you play more games you and your opponent will get better at play balance. |

Game lists are nothing but a starting point, historical orbats/TO&E and like minded friends are much more important to the enjoyment of any rules set :) |

I disagree, winning is everything

Outside of tournaments do what you like. Last 500 pt LRDG list I made was 1st LT 7 men LMG, SMG 7 men 2SMG 2x 30cwt trucks with HMG Free FO Jeep w HMG, 3 LMG It felt LRDG ish within the rules. Too bad the list can't take 100ish points of trucks vice the free FO |

Just like Big Red said above, design your own scenarios. Tournament-style matchups with equal points on a side are contrary to all the basic tenets of military doctrine for force/combat ratios anyway. |

As they say 'I you find yourself in a fair fight you've done something wrong

Tournament-style matchups with equal points on a side are contrary to all the basic tenets of military doctrine I don't think tournament players are exploring the tenets of military doctrine. They are more like playing chess with a cooler board and pieces. |

Perhaps this is why so many of these tournament game boards end up looking like the linear warfare fought in the middle ages? Of all the WW2 units that was the antithesis of this type of fighting, would be the raiders of the LRDG, who used stealth, mobility, and concentration of force to attack where they were to be least expected. |

Use historical units and defence/offence scenarios and forget about tournaments. |
