Does anyone know if there are any sprays out there on the market which are close enough to these AFV camo colours to be able to use them as a basecoat in order to save time? I presume Dunkelgelb in it's various shades from different makers is too dark, and there are various shades of British paint including Italy which I think I saw on Warlords stand at Vapnartak which I pondered might do for Israeli. Has anyone done any comparisons?

For the Egyptians, "British Armour (Desert)" from BF is the same color as Vallejo "Dark Sand," so it works fine. I have tried "British Armour (Italy)" for the Israelis. It's the same shade as Vallejo "Khaki," but it is right between the shades recommended by BF for Sinai Grey -- namely, Grey Green and German Camouflage Beige.

A nice bonus is that both colors also serve as a quick base coat for the respective infantry figures.

I find that the undercoat primer color will affect the final tone of the light tans used for the desert. So be careful wit hthe combo.

I used the British Armor (Desert) for the UAR models over a grey primer. Worked fine.

This is the mix I used for the 73 war.

Israeli Sand Grey 61-73
33% XF-57 Buff
33% XF-59 Desert Yellow
33% XF-20 Medium Grey.

All paints are Tamiya. I got the mix of a IDF modeling site.
