"After the UN-offensive of the first quarter that allowed the Allies to successfully recross the 38th parallel, the Chinese decided to resume the initiative. This is the famous "spring offensive" three army groups (more than 700 000 men) are launched into battle. Very nice AAR and models … IIRC we were deployed near that area in '84-'85, near the DMZ …

The pictures you show are members of the 1st Battalion, the Gloucestershire Regiment The stand by the "Glorious Glosters" is an epic story in British Military history and there are many sites commemorating it

I know that terrain well. Spent lots of time around there. The valley, really a canyon, south of there is a death trap if the other guys hold the high ground. The US 72d Tank Battalion (my old unit) tried coming up it to reach the Glosters. They were too late and could only pick up the survivors.

I spent a night up on Gloster Hill. Pretty eerie in the early morning mist. You half expect Chinese soldiers to come sneaking around. I have pictures of the monument and surrounding area somewhere. Will have to dig out and post them someday.
