I ran out of the clear gloss spray sealer I usually use & found a can in the depths of my garage that says Clear Enamel. Does anyone know if spray paint is usually enamel? If not, would there be a problem putting a "normal" clear sealer on top of an enamel one? Thanks |

I think that depends on the spraypaint. IIRC Testors Glosscote is a lacquer. Damon. |

The upside of it working correctly is Yay! My figures are done. The downside of it not working is Boo! I have to strip and repaint all these figures. (???) I think you should wait until you get something you're confident of working properly, instead of taking a chance on messing up some figs. |

Who is the manufacturer? Humbrol aerosol clear varnish, both matt and gloss, used to be sold as 'enamel'. They still are link link It never hurt my figures. Enamel paint – typically petro-chemical based. Acrylic – typically water based. |

Try it on a test piece first. If it is a spray can, it is most likely an enamel. |

Try it on a test piece first. If it is a spray can, it is most likely an enamel, just like most sprays. If you aren't 100% sure, just go buy another can. |

You will not hurt a miniature painted with acrylic paints by spraying it with clear enamel or lacquer for that matter. You would actually be hard pressed to find a can of spray paint that is not enamel or lacquer. They do make aerosol acrylics but they are not common by any means. |
