It's finally happened! My 40th today and I'm feeling old and over the hill :) but where exactly did those 40 years go? A day to look back and remember I guess
lots of my closest friends and family are gone (all my brothers are no longer with us, two of my very closest friends from childhood are gone and my dad passed away two years ago, just before I moved from Ireland to Canada with my wife and kids. So to those who have passed this marker whats there to look forward to? What can I expect from 40 more years if I make it to the BIGGER "8" "O" ;) Anyway rightly or wrongly I won't even change any of the bad times because they have resulted in some of the best times and I have to say I'm pretty excited about what life has in store just around the next bender
ahem I mean bend :) Well kind of surprised I'm posting this here but I guess I feel a certain closeness to the community of TMP
since I moved abroad I've experienced a kind of cyber-friendship with the people of this site :) Anyway to those in the past that I've pi$%#@$^#ed off, well my apologies :) and to those that have provided me with hours of interesting and enjoyable reading with that rare mix of wit, wisdom, intelligence and knowledge that's found here on TMP I thank you |

Hitting 50 is much like hitting 40, except for a few more aches and pains. Happy Birthday. |

Your only as young as the woman you are feeling. In my case that is getting on a bit. Happy birthday. |

Ya darn kids
48 myself. 40 is not bad, it is somewhere around 45 that it gets bad – that is when you can't even delude yourself into believing there are possibly more days ahead then behind. |

I hit 54 just a few weeks back. The great thing about passing the big "5" – "0" was that I had people lining up, offering to paint all the lead on the stack in the corner, for FREE. And terrain? Oh, my
every time I turn around, I'm opening another free parcel containing the latest terrain pieces. It is all painted up, based and ready to go. There's a courtesy limo on standby in my driveway ready to head out to the next gaming convention. I've even gotten calls from the various world leaders offering to name their next conflict after me. I told them it is OK as long as they only do it in 15mm. Happy Birthday. |

"Hitting 50 is much like hitting 40, except for a few more aches and pains." And you get those annoying AARP flyers
(For our foreign friends, AARP is American Association of Retired Persons.) Anyway, congrats! (And get off my lawn, ya brat! ;-)) |

Thank you all for the kind wishes and all the other sentiments besides :) Jack a belated Happy Birthday my friend
I had no idea we were both in the same state of demise :) I have to say it was great to see the Canadian girls doing my new adopted country so proud but I'm afraid it led to too many excuses for having a few bevies tonight so before I say something stupid I'll just say thanks to all for all your kind wishes! @Zargon No one thought of getting me it for my birthday so I think sainthood will need to wait for at least another decade :/ |
