I was in my local Poundland yesterday and noticed a bin of 1:43 scale diecast vehicles. As the usual quality of Poundland stuff is variable, I decided to have a look.

From my brief rummage, these are proper diecast metal vehicles. I saw a land rover type vehicle, police car, police van, 1930s style taxi-cab (like the one in the Phantom), an armoured car(as in money delivery truck), amongst others. All writing on the vehicles appears to be Cyrillic, so feel this might be an eastern European manufacturer, although the minimal packaging seemed to suggest they were from Holland.

As I didn't have any change and did not need 5 vehicles to make the necessary minimum purchase by card, I didn't pick any up. However, have coinage today, so will be getting a couple, which I may post pictures of when I get the chance.

As Poundland does rotate it's stock quite regularly, thought I'd post early, just in case anyone was interested and wanted to have a look before they disappear.

Yep poundland are great for vehicles, I found the oil tanker in poundland and some other trucks which fit perfectly with my 15mm figures

Okay, so I returned to Poundland, jingling my change in my pocket and had a good old rummage through the wire bin to see what they had to offer, as I wanted to make sure I spent my two quid wisely.

A lot of them were utility vehicles, such as an ambulance, fire rescue land rover, police car and what I assumed was a security van (big blue van with some kind of eagle crest on the door). There was also an American style yellow cab and what I would describe as an eastern European cab (small saloon car in green with white stripes). Another version of the small saloon car was blue, with a big bullhorn on the roof, ideal for political rallies.

What struck me looking at these vehicles was that they would be ideal for a Spy-Fi game, as I could imagine daring secret agents haring through the streets of Berlin, pursued by the local constabulary.

Anyway, I plumped for the 1930s style cab and the armoured car, as they were the most useful. Having de-packaged them, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Solid metal bodies, plastic undercarriage screwed on, not riveted, rubber tyres and little details, like the mudflaps on the cab and the windscreen wipers. Nice. Writing undeneath in in Cyrillic, except for the ubiquitous Made in China. However, the armoured car did have the manufacturer – D'Agostini.

Having offered them up to some of my Heroclix figures (and a Kroot warror, for variety, as he was hanging around) they did not look out of place. Scale, according to the base is 1/43. Suitable for 28mm.

Unfortunately, haven't got the time to do the whole photo – photobucket – post tonight, but I will post some pictures tomorrow with suitable figures, to give an idea of what they look like.

If you happen to be near a Poundland in the next couple of days, I definitely recommend you take a look, if this is the kind of thing you're looking for. A pound a vehicle? Bargain!

Finally got round to taking, uploading and posting the phhotos.

First, every leather-clad, gun-toting golden Age vigilante needs some wheels, so now Doc Justice can dispense his own form of punishment anywhere within the tri-state area;

And whilst the security of the funds from the Hudson City Bank is paramount, they can always use a little help from the Wraith:

So, top picture is the old-school cab, which my friend suggested is more 50s than 30s, but I fell it works just fine.

Second picture is what I am going to use as an armoured car/security van. Not entirely sure what it's actually supposed to be, but works for my purposes.

Both figures are converted Heroclix, to give some idea of scale..
