Presumably still working through the supply kinks they posted about a little while back. Must admit I got all excited at "T-26E turrets" only to to realise they're for the Russian T-26E (ie. uparmoured) not the Finnish one. :-(

I'm still waiting for my "Sissi" troops on skis to be released.

Battlefront seem to be having a host of problems getting product out these days.

John the OFM20 Feb 2014 8:07 a.m. PST

I had some Finnish ski troops from Legions East. However, I could not get to their website, going through the TMP Manufacturers' listing.

I don't sit up nights sighing over unreleased BF models and figures. The books, on the other hand…
Wither Barbarosa? What can be so darn difficult about friggin' BARBAROSA??? Perhaps the most important campaign of the whole damn war?

OFM,
Battlegroup has their Barbarossa supplement coming out in April. supposedly @ Salute and is now on preorder…. Time to jump ship?
Respectfully,
Gunny

Barbarossa was released soon in 2007 just like their website said…………..

jameshammyhamilton21 Feb 2014 5:40 a.m. PST

I thought that Barbarossa was first due in 2003

I am painfully aware that it has been due 'next year' for every year (apart from one) that I have been playing FoW and I have been playing for about 7 or 8 years now.

I think it was the Roman poet Ovid who said that 'those whom the Gods wish to destroy they first drive mad' . I do wonder whether diversifying into 'Nam and Arab Israel. is the sign of commercial overreach. there has been nothing for about three months to interest me to buy

According to my usual mail order supplier Battlefront has had major financial issues having overstretched themselves, possibly with all the board game stuff, and that is why stuff hasn't been coming through on time or on publicized release dates. He says the problem has been solved, but he wasn't happy at not having stock to sell when it should be coming through. This was the first I'd heard of them being in trouble but it explains the delays.

Maybe buying a magazine and other games companies was a step to far

Gottmituns20523 Feb 2014 5:49 a.m. PST

They bought GF9, a Magazine…and a few gaming companies…with multiple issues in on themselves and through they could work them out.

On a side note I'm reading a fantastic book on Germany's economic's and industrial output during the second world war and I find the similarities here striking.

It depends a bit on the size of the acquisitions and how much management time they distract from the core business. A greater problem might be the sheer number of stock units that a company needs to finance in order to trade. If you carry 1000 lines and have to hold stock of 100 and each item costs £4.00 GBP to produce then you have to finance a stock of £400,000.00 GBP . When companies run into trouble stock on slower selling items does not get replaced straight away and then some items get dropped . It is especially difficult when moulds start to become damaged because there is then an immediate cost to replace them. Again, the less popular sellers tend to get dropped at that point. Of course I am not saying that would happen to Battlefront, but it is a danger for any business that sells a very wide range of products and has to keep them all in stock rather than manufacture to order.

My problem is not their new release schedule but just keeping existing releases in stock. I have been waiting for T55s to be in stock in the US since October. I suppose this is consistent with what Volleyfire says.

I believe buying Dust was the reason for battlefronts lack of cashflow.

VonBurge26 Feb 2014 1:50 p.m. PST

I'm not sure BF "bought" Dust from Fantasy Flight Games. I seem to recall its a distrobution agreement or something along those lines.

EDIT: Found this – link

Guess BF is replacing FFG as Dust Minatures partner.
