I've got Champion Hill set up in 15mm for tomorrow. Each general gets a HQ on the table. McClernand shows up after the game starts. Does his HQ get placed then, or does it show when he does? If units from his corps break before he shows, do they try to rally at Grant's HQ? Or do they just flee the field without trying to rally? |

I just played the Seven Pines scenario and it has the same issue. I played it that you don't deploy the HQ until the commander deploys. Any unit from that command already on the board which breaks would try to rally at the overall commander's HQ. In the case of Seven Pines any unit from Sedgwick's division which breaks would rally at Heintzelman's HQ until Sumner comes on. |

"Some other name" is correct. This question is raised in the FAQ online. HQs arrive when the general arrives and can deploy within 12" of the general's entry. And yes indeed, any unit in the army can always attempt to rally at the overall army HQ. |

Good game, by the way. I strongly recommend it for anyone looking to recreate ACW battles at the grand-tactical scale. |

Thanks. Yes, it is in the online FAQ. Duh. Well, I'm getting ready to umpire a game I've not played before. With luck the Fencibles will like it. They are a fussy crew. There will be an AAR with pictures Friday or so

I agree an excellent set of rules. We've worked our way through from First to Second Manassas so far with a side trip to Champion Hill. Congrats to 6mmACW for the recent release of the Western Battles collection. Regarding Champion Hill, I would caution to enforce some sort of minimum spacing between the sides at the start -- greater than 8" for example. Maybe it's in the rules generically and I've seen it it some scenarios but for this one I forgot to do so and the union player ended up jammed against the edge and having a couple units recoil off. Not an foreordained result, but I realized after the first attack that a little more space would have been in order. |

Yes, per the rules any commander may use up to half their priority points to control the clock. |

Yeah, just found that in the rules and deleted my question. Thanks. Cable found, photos being downloaded soon. |
