I've added TSR's old (1974!) Barsoomian Skirmish/RPG/sourcebook whatever to the Digital Rules page. If there's an interest, here's the link: link

Thanks for your interest and attention,

Walt

The original publisher printed and published the rules without the permission of the Burroughs estate. The estate issued a Cease and Desist and no printings beyond the first were made.

For some reason, I keep calling this one WARRIORS OF BARSOOM vice WARRIORS OF MARS, my bad, sorry. I also have the BARSOOMIAN BATTLE MANUAL, which I often mixed this up with back in the day.

I read about the C&D from the ERB estate. As I found the digital files (PDF) on Archive.org, I assume they no longer care. A broad assumption, to be sure, but if they want me to take it down I will, no worries.

Cool, thanks for the info. What do you use to view epub files?

WaltOHara19 Feb 2014 9:09 a.m. PST

Try epub viewer plugin for Firefox. Or the EMS Studios EPUB viewer.

I remember seeing a copy of these in the Hinchliffe Models shop back in 1980 or thereabouts. Didn't pick them up although did get a copy a few years back. Nice piece of gaming history. Makes me feel old.

thanks for sharing, Walt
My Internet Exploder didnt understand what an Epub file is and of course Windblows could find nothing about it on the enntire internet.
Thank God for Calibre.
I swiped your other files while I was there.
You Rock!

Ditto, and thanks for torpedoing my dreams-beyond avarice for my two little beauties. ;->=

Doug

Edit: Does anyone know if epub can be put on Nook directly? I've a glow thingy that's been a disappointment for PDFs and M$ Word, but there are several items I'd like to be thanking Walt for, as well.

Edit, part deux [bug attributed to me, but I didn't do it]:
Good news. First I have heard that.

EDIT: Oh, you said "Battlegroup"…grin

I think Epub is Nook's native format.

Excellent! I'll add it to my list of steampunk rules

Excellent x 2!

I shall ravage Walt's site to within an inch of it's…

*ahem*

I shall gratefully download soon.

Tah, good sirrahs, RC and Walt!

UPDATE:

I did add THE BARSOOMIAN BATTLE MANUAL by Scott Bizar.

picture

It's on the Digital Rules page (see link above). My intention was to turn this into EPUB, but frankly, the scan is so bad it will be many hours of work with too little payoff except nostalgia. I did clean up the PDF a little bit-- taking it from a two page scan to a single page, which is a lot more readable. It's in the Commerical, Out of Print section.

Enjoy,

Walt

Walt -

Thanks for this!

The Barsoomian Battle Manual seems to have been removed from the linked website (Warriors of Mars is still there).

Any chance you could email me the Battle Manual pdf?

Hi Walt,

Seems the entire commercial OOP rules listing has disappeared.
