My sci-fi game could do with some androids and assorted robots, prefereably civilian (I'm already well catered for by Copplestone and em4 for armed robots).

My requirements: preferably around or under £2.00 GBP per figure, and since I live in europe, preferably from uk or european companies (unless postage from the US is reasonable).
Plus, I'd rather not scrape around on ebay after clix or other one-off figures, I'd rather get them from a company where I can get a haul of goodies all at once.

Cheers guys, hope you can help!

Can be sourced within Europe and if you get them off auction sites, they can be less than £2.00 GBP a figure.

Bandit and Norrins – thanks guys, I'll check those out!

Star Wars collectibles – the plastic ones on eBay, though I'm not sure they are from the UK.

Many will be suitable for your needs, and reasonably priced.

The Ghost of Heife (sp?) Kickstarter should be shipping soon. He has some cool androids releasing when that is filled.

Black Cat Bases makes a number of 28mm robots. Although they were having trouble for a while, I'm not sure if that's over or not. link

GZG makes a pack of 15mm droids that contains a roughly 28mm scale Wall-E (two of then actually) link

D A THB19 Feb 2014 4:23 p.m. PST

I would not order from Black Cat Bases just yet.I am still waiting for either my order from August or a reply to my recent email to them.

TwinMirror20 Feb 2014 5:20 a.m. PST

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

ainsty, gzg and antenocitis all look like good candidates. I can't find any pics of the gzg 25mm androids – anyone know what they look like?

I agree with D A THB – steer clear of Black Cat Bases for a while. I also placed an order at the end of august, strangely enough, and I still haven't heard anything from them, despite my emails and phone messages. I think Ben is really ill, which is very sad, but they should at least close up shop, otherwise their problems will only grow.

Old Glory/Blue Moon have modular robots in 28mm…

I have a pack and like them very much. They have a very nice, 50s-60s sci-fi look to them.

Those modular 'bots look awesome, capt flash. if only I could get them shipped to norway without incurring vast taxation wrath!

maybe someone in the uk supplies them, in which case i could just send them to my folks in england and pick em up when i visit…the trials we go to, to get our figures!

Capt Flash20 Feb 2014 9:56 p.m. PST

Check out old glory UK(I think that's what they're called!).

cheers Capt!

Regarding what GZG stuff looks like. I will enter GZG or the full name plus the code number into a search engine. Often times, I will get pictures of that item that someone else owns and has pictures of on the net.

I finally tracked down a blog with pics of th egzg 'droids, so thanks for the suggestion markmors!
like a lot of gzg 25mm, they're a bit chunky, but basically decent sculpts with a certain 50's-60's -style robotic charm. So I'll definitely pick up a couple of sets of those.

In case you missed 'em … here's some good ones. Cheap, easy to paint, and the come unarmed.

TwinMirror26 Feb 2014 8:19 a.m. PST

Great stuff, etotheipi. I should have known you'd already have a characteristic solution for this!

Over here in Norway, they don't really get the whole dimestore concept – even the stores that claim to be bargain basement are not cheap, and their toy range is weak…still, I scavenge what I can and I'll look out for any stuff like this.

However, I read your post on making hoverbots, and I do have a bag of wingnuts and suitable stuff in my bits box, so I'll give them a go.

Cheers!

I have been hunting for scale pictures and picture in general of the Old Glory "build your bots" to no avail, do you have any, your the first person I have found that has some?

Bishop Odo16 Mar 2014 9:07 p.m. PST

Reaper has a new one out that I just ordered, Blood Nebula Mercenary, that's bot. I'll post it when I get it, supposed to have variant heads and arms..

Capt Flash16 Mar 2014 10:04 p.m. PST

Bishop, I've only assembled one. I'll grab a pic of some of the torsos next to some GW figures tomorrow or Tuesday.
