Dear All,
At the Hall of Heroes, Campbelltown NSW, on Sunday the Waterloo 200 project team met for the first of our Waterloo megagame practice sessions. Despite only having a fraction of the necessary figures and terrain so far, and some of those not finished, we had a ball and got a glimpse of what we will be able to accomplish for the Bicentennial in June 2015! A batrep here: link |

Sparkler, In your efforts for putting on the big game, I see the use of Prussians early on than that of historical. How do plan to bring it back into balance for the French then? It seems for most discussions of this battle the key to the French victory is to have the Guard make the final crush to the what needs to be "a battered British" then they could focus on the Prussian for a 2nd go. Wouldn't you want that caveat for this game? Just wondering MG |

Dear All, Thanks for the kind comments – La Haye Sainte that you see on the blog was scratch built by Fons of the Mabuhay Miniatures Painting Service: mmps.asia Regarding this scenario – it was just a training game to get people familiar with the rules and the 1815 supplement, so no particular time in the battle was set. Factoring in the Prussian contribution is being looked at. The conundrum is that we don't want the Prussian team sitting around twiddling their thumbs half the day! One option being researched is to start our game at the 2.00pm settings, so that the Prussians only have to sit out a couple of hours worth of play
Over the 3 day Waterloo 200 weekend as a whole, we will also be spending a day playing either Ligny or Wavre, so the Prussians will still get plenty of gaming in! Jules – You'll be very welcome – have you been recieving the updates? If not let me know your email and I'll put you on the mailing list. |

Very nice Sparker, congrats to all of your hard work! The White Rock gamers plan on doing Waterloo as well. We are only short Prussians , which I am painting. We will use Shako 2 rules. I would love to play in your games, but alas it's quite a trek from British Columbia. Thanks for posting! |

Looks like fun, I hope to do the same thing in 15mm but I need to get started soon! Sparker, what Rules are you using? What unit scale, battalions or brigades? |

Thanks again Gents! We are using Black Powder rules, and incorporating some of the Albion Triumphant additional rules and troop stats – our final selection of rules and stats is very much a work in progress. To answer your question directly I would assess Black Powder very much as 'Battalion' level rules. However, we have not completely taken leave of our senses! Figure scale is 1:20, so that Infantry Battalions vary from 30 – 36 figures for a 'normal' sized unit. However, as well as the individual figure scale, we are also reducing the historical orbat by 50% at the Brigade level. This is being done by halving the number of units in a Division, usually down to about a historical Bde, but still calling it a Division. So in sum our unit scale is 1:2, but our figure scale is 1:20, if that makes sense. The bottom line is that, man for man, we are doing it at a scale of 1:40! Glad you asked! :-) |
