Looking at options for a crashed plane for the Bolt Action Top Secret scenario, there seem to be some 1/48 models around but are there 1:56 aircraft kits? Looking for something likely to be carrying an officer of the eastern front WWII, German ideal because could be used on more fronts
Is there anything out there? |

Why not just look on eBay or on a Plastic Hobby or other site for 1/48 scale model planes? They look fine when paired with 28mm figures. And if you want them for ground attack, there are some plastic snap together planes that are quite nice from Testors that you can easily put on a stand -- F4U, P40, P51 and Me109, not to mention other play kits in that scale. |

I'm not aware of any non-wargaming kits in 1/56 scale, other than possibly some of the "fit-the-box" kits of the '50s and early '60s. As SBminisguy says, 1/48 should look fine on the tabletop. The Fieseler Storch is what you want, for ferrying around a German officer: auction Coincidentally, the Storch is the Fi 156. Spooky! |

Blitzkreig Miniatures are going to produce 1/56 scale aircraft, but not sure what's on their list. Google them and drop them an email. |

Oh, you can search also for "new ray 1/48 plane" -- the New Ray toy company produces pre-painted 1/48 scale fighters, both WW1 and WW2. In WW2 you can get a P51, F4U, P40, A6M2, Spitfire, D530 and at one point they made a Yak-1 or a LaGG-3. |

There are very few 1/56 scale models. Smer is the only mfr I'm aware of, but they have since moved to 1/48, so the 1/56 scale models are oop and hard to come by. Searching Hannats (UK) and MegaHobbies for 1/56 aircraft models comes up empty. Odd thing -- you'll often find that the 1/48 pilot that comes in the kit is smaller than your 28mm figs. |

I've used 1/48 kits in this role, i'd be very surprised if anyone notices ( nobody did with my demo). It is also easier to "crash" a kit rather than a solid resin piece. |
