Hello, there are many uniforms that have different colour trousers for winter and summer, typically a darker and white respectively. For the Polish troops 1812-14 I am planning on painting them with the blue winter trousers, this mostly so that they are easier to distinguish on the table top. My question is what would actual regiments in the field wear during summer and winter, I imagine they made due with whatever was available. |

At the start of many campaigns the army would/should be dressed in the regulation manner however after weeks or months on campaign wear and tear on uniforms would take its toll and patches or replacement garments would appear. We all like to have our troops looking as glamorous as possible but if you want realism be prepared to have them looking a little tatty. |

The traditional 'campaign season' was the summer, so summer uniform would be 'correct' more often! |
