Lets try this again. What are some good rules for skirmish gaming in Africa during WWI. Germans, British, French. Are there any TS&TF variants?

At skirmish level, I would have thought any old twentieth century skirmish rules would do, as long as they handle bolt action rifles and tripod machine guns.

I am sure you could just play TSATF as is, we used it for ww1 in Palestine without any mods.

Back of Beyond, Heart of Africa or CLA ?

You could try "Death in the Dark Continent". If I remember the French didn't get much of a look in (Britain was keen to discourage the presence of a colonial rival) but you can have Belgians and Portuguese.

I use 'Through the Mud and the Blood' from Too Fat Lardies.

TSATF should work just fine. If you want, and you have a newer copy, The Sword In Africa may be more to your liking.

Another "second" for TSATF. We've used it for several games.

Again TSATF..it allow you to have: small skirmishes and battles, use of native troops regulars/irregulars,variable scale of troop representation, characterisation of both troops and single personalities, colonial/exotic flavour….all things that differentiate WW1 than WW1 sideshow in Africa

There'e an official TSATF varient called "The Sword in Palestine" Available from Sergeants 3. It includes rules for an attached Lewis gun, grenades, air support, etc. I tried it for a Third Anglo Afghan War scenario and it worked well.

If simplicity's your thing, many years ago Chris Peers authored an article for WI that contained a set of WW1 modifications for his earlier single-based 'In the Heart of Africa' colonial era rules.

Either Through the Mud and the Blood by TFL or TSATF variants different games but both great fun.
