For those of us who loved the board game, now we have a Kickstarter revamp. It has been running 4 days, out of 30, and reached almost a third of the modest $15,000 USD goal.

The game is a whopping $150. USD It was expensive back in the day. Especially when you take the expansions into account.

What's new?

-Updated deluxe sized map for contemporary accuracy and realism.

-Updated modern players: United States, The Commonwealth, European Union, Russian Federation, China and Japan.

-Updated currency: A billion dollars? Seriously? That is so 1980's. How about Trillions? Now we're talking.

-Fixed: Market trading system. Brilliant idea, but it never worked quite right. We nailed it down now and it is a thing of beauty. This is what 1 reviewer had to say: -"Supremacy 2020 is a tremendous revamping of the original! We love the updated map, the market is fixed and allowing players to perform more actions each turn is fantastic! The rules are streamlined, simple enough to get into action immediately and intricate enough to allow multiple paths to victory. BRAVO!"

-Speed: The old Supremacy took hours just to get going. No more. We have reconfigured the setup and sequence for rapid development. Conflicts will break out on turn one! Major wars or resolution by turn 2-4. You can play this in 1 night!

Customs charge a fortune for imports where I live and are a pain to deal with. I might go for the $35 USD digital download option for Supremacy 2020. I can get big maps printed on vinyl and have the playing pieces made with infantry, tanks, ships, etc. in whatever scale works.

Are there forums/blogs for people who are (legitimately) making fancy copies of their board games? I'd be interested to see what people are using for non figure pieces, the cards, maps and other bits and pieces.

I used to have the game and all the expansions and the Mega Map I hope they have made it a bit quicker, which is one of the reasons we stopped playing years ago

I remember conspiring with another player to play the market… That was more than 20 years ago.

Loved those mushroom cloud tokens.

Within the regular rules or a local thing? One of my friends dreamed up the idea of a "cartel" where everyone sells in a circle so that you all get a big pay off. I thought that this was a mistaken rule interpretation, ruled out by the turn sequence. I forget the details. But it flooded the game with cash which spoiled it a bit.

I have all the 1st ed stuff and played it many times. I doubt I could find 5 people to spend a day playing a new version. This one is not for me.

What is wrong with the new version?

Pedrobear17 Feb 2014 3:21 a.m. PST

I think it was in the rules. You buy at a low price to jack up the price, and your friend then sells at the high price to bring down the market, and then you sell at the high price to reap a profit and bring the price down, and then your friend does the same.

Something like that? It's been more than 20 years…

I'm in! This will bring back fond memories of the early 90's
