How about this hard plastic toy "shuttle"? It's obvious that 15mm figures are too big for it:

Argo's Dimensions: L95mm, W42mm, H30mm

Looks a little like the Daemonscape MT32 Buffalo Transport, made for 6mm figures:

I don't think that that it is too small. Add some landing gear to raise it a few mm's and perhaps a new door hatch and it would work for a landing shuttle for me.

Also it is flat red, Add some colors to it and it would look better.

Looks about as big as a Star Trek run-about that could carry 2 crew and 6-8 passengers. That was the first thing I thought when I saw your picture.

So, you think it's salvageable then, as a 15mm craft?

Absolutely!

Sure you can save that, if you what it to look taller just add something thick to the underside, to give it the look of landing gears or pads, and it will look just fine, of course it looks fine as is.

It looks just about right to me, specially from the front. Its perfect for inserting a recon team deep into enemy territory. I would make a mold of that and repro it.

Looks like the same size as an SGA puddle jumper to me. Short range craft with 2 pilot seats and space for some cargo and maybe 4-6 more people in the back. Enough to drop a squad in at least. Maybe Spec Ops or a Vietnam style drop and go situation. Would be fun for some protect the LZ type scenarios. Maybe with constant reinforcement over time with the defender having a much larger entrenched force but the attacker keeps getting reinforced and gets arty back up.

I think it looks just fine with that fig. It's just a small capacity job.

I don't think it is too small for 15mm either.

Yeah, your 15mm guy is on a base and the shuttle isn't. As it stands his helmeted head is barely taller than the hatch. If you raise it up a bit (I recommend on plastic bottlecaps – cheap gravpod look), it would be fine.

I think it would be ideal for a small team scout ship or a 10-15 man liferaft.

From the plastic it seems to be made out of, one oblique cut near the middle turns one ship into two crashed models.

Hmm. Tempting.

Where did you find it!

Cacique Caribe16 Feb 2014 11:49 p.m. PST

Got two of those shuttles from eBay for around $5.00 USD for both.

McDonald's 1987 "Young Astronauts" Argo Land Shuttle is what they are called.

That is a sweet little find and it does look to be about the same size as the old GZG Buffalo shuttle which i use for 15mm gaming regularly as a squad transporter or medivac.

Looks like the Sci-fi version of vehicle role currently filled by the LAV or M-113. Add a turret and it could maybe a Bradley type IFV.

Well, if you guys can't get a hold of the McD Argo Land Shuttle, perhaps you might be lucky and find the BK Trek Shuttle on eBay and other sites:

I think its size is just fine and Im quite fussy about it!

Angel Barracks17 Feb 2014 3:54 a.m. PST

Yeah, I like my models to be bigger than true scale and I reckon it is fine.

After one of such threads I got newer Star Trek kid-meal toy and although its kind of small I made a terrain piece of landed shuttle on tarmac from it and it looks great as such.

I reckong Trek one would suit you better as dropship though.

Here's a BK ST Shuttle I converted to 6mm …

The very same. great piece.

Smallish for a freighter but would work for personell transport.

It does starport terrain duty for me :>

It's salvageable for 15mm. You just need to think MH6, not CH53E!

I think it's closer to 10/12mm based on the size of the door.

Great job AWuuuu !!! thumbs up

Thanks Legion4.

Those simple toys are very nice models to work with.
